@African-Monkey think Brumbies are also battling to stay alive, bit sad really for us and them
The theory in these parts is RA is deliberately trying to make Brumbies have to give up their licence so they can take over it and possibly move it to another location.

Melbourne?

@antipodean yeah, i'd heard something along those lines too....i dont think it was on here
also heard about merging the rebels and brumbies so they claim they havent abandoned melbourne even if its only for a couple of games a year
the brumbies are a sad situation because they were/are pretty successful, a couple of championships back in the day and few more finals...

I pretty relaxed on whether Jags come back or not. Can see the reason for it (like Drua etc)good for game in Argentina, and personally find the times of games there were good , 9-10 in NZ on a Sunday. Also can see drawbacks . travel etc. Only thing I know is whatever id decided I will shrug shoulders and go along with it, and plenty of others will be against it.

Jaguares returning to Super Rugby in 2026. It could be earlier if the Rebels fold apparently.
-
@Machpants they did...the same government that pulled out of the comm games

@gt12 yeah they should have put the two Sunday games on the Saturday. So stupid.
I'd argue the two marquee games of the weekend are in many ways tonight.

After losing interest in the world cup final (I stopped watching it) due to the shockingly bad reffing by Barnes and his assistants.
My interest is returning with super rugby. We just now need a stronger Aust presence (reduce to 4 teams as a first step) and keep it at 12 teams (not try and keep on increasing the number of teams) along with the other changes already discussed. Then the crowds will start returning

Scott can catch a pass.
Sam Cane and even McGod were AB captains and not that flash at catching a pass.

IMO those were aberrations in their games, not a defining characteristic like Shields.

If Super Rugby's going to be a viable product that can be sold around the world, it's going to have to do a lot better than the swathes of empty seats we saw this weekend. No one will want to watch sport in front of empty stands. Time for the administrators to pull their finger out!
