Highlanders 2024

@SouthernMann More of a 12, IIRC. Has played some rugby at 10.
-
@SouthernMann i havent but i felt the Highlanders management had signaled that was the long term plan
I'm just nervous, we had Hunt, ioane and Gatland all fighting for a spot at the same time...seems like all we did was piss off two of them and break the 3rd, if it was me a clear first choice, an up and coming understudy and maybe an experienced (lima?) old hat that just wants to play a bit of code and pick up some slack
unless some how we could lure someone like perofeta, that would be worth re thinking the plan
-
I want one of those two to succeed long term. I just don't know if it starts from next year. Millar has played what two games and Faleafaga still hasn't laced up at NPC level. It is a big if for both of them

@Bones made the AB XV...would take him too

i agree, im just not sure we'd be able to lure someone down here that was looking to keep building themselves if we have a couple of guys coming

Their best bet would be to lure PUJ to play with TUJ, find a 6 from somewhere (crazy that will be a weak position for them suddenly), and try to lure another reasonably classy outside back (Fihaki? JRK?).
I'd also be begging Joane to come back:
Fakatava, Ioane, Nareki, TUG, PUG, Lowe, and CGB/Gilbert/Fihaki and they'd be looking much more dangerous.
Another idea if they can't get a center is sign another outside and move Lowe to center.

@gt12 not sure 6 is suddenly weak, withy outplayed frizell most of the season and we have some young guys coming through, is thats backs that are a mess
im not sure Joane is the steady head we need at 10, when you look at how burns played in that last game, old school plug the corners until they expect that and the feed the backs...thats not Joanes game, Millar maybe

With a little more help, that type of 10 could get you to the playoffs I guess.

@gt12 so an improvement then!
I'd be looking for more.
Plummer would be a good get in that case, especially if you could steal Evans. That guy looks class to me and I'm surprised he hasn't had more time at Super level.
I'd still try for PUJ (mainly to try to keep Tug), but if you lost TUJ, but replaced the losses with Plummer and Evans, you might even be ahead.
