I see the Southland Stags announced their squad today. Interesting that they’ve signed a 22 year old outside back from Bath. Could this be the new Highlander.
He's played nine senior games for Bath. I'd say after being released from Bath, he's probably just after an opportunity and found one with the Stags. Would be disappointed if we go down that route sight unseen. We already have a boaderline unknown overseas winger in Bogado.

@SouthernMann wouldn’t understand why they’d release a 22 year old guy with heaps of potential that played and started in 4/4 England Under 20 matches in recent years..

@Bones Don’t have a cry about it, search for yourself.. His name is Gabriel Hamer-Webb
He was really good for the crusaders eh.

Probably meaning our mystery man George and his Saders clue.

https://www.bathrugby.com/club-news/eight-senior-players-to-depart-bath-rugby/ apologies he played 32 games for Bath.

Seems decent, but apparently struggling with injuries at the moment.. Was just a name to throw out there.

I'm sure Rugby Park in August will do wonders for his confidence

Well the Highlanders saying “We’ve got two huge signings this week” hints to me that it’s not going to be players we don’t know of. Especially with “we just know you’re going to love them” following that, meaning they must be well known. Naholo? PUJ?
-
They should not sign Waisake Naholo. He is a 32 year old outside back. The past is the past. I would say he has a specific role within Otago, to support younger lads. It is very unlikely he will start for Otago and will now be a long way off Super Rugby standard. If judging by the language 'huge' dictates someone who is likely to start and be influential. So a first five, midfielder, or outside back. The outside backs, it depends on whether the management is satisfied Bogado and Lowe are starters or if they are still after a starting wing/fullback. If they have faith in Bogado/Lowe the last outside back may be a depth player.

You've forgotten the "silhouette announcement" of a couple of years ago already eh. Big, big, YUGE

Was that the Tony Brown naming as assistant coach? Fantastic impact. Just a bit limp dick at the time. Credit to the Landers the admission of we got things wrong over the last few years and actively working to fix things is looking impressive. 2024 is certainly going to be a stronger squad than 2023.

Crofty wouldn't make sense. We have two 12s in Gilbert and TUJ. A 13 is what we are lacking
