I agree. Two good (not outstanding) games do not make you a contender for the ABs. Otherwise, players like Kini Naholo or Brett Cameron could be in the same bandwagon.

Canes have been asked to put Kini on ice so there's no analysis for the RWC.

    Oh, wrong thread

Thoughts. The Crusaders are missing Hall big time, although Heinz is an experienced campaigner, he isn't a starter. Might have to start the young fella halfback and hope for the best. Dom Gardiner is showing the most potential out of all the up-and-coming, young loosies in the comp. Lock is not his position but he adds a Graham Higginson-type presence anyway.
Aumua at 13 for Moana is the dog's balls. Potentially could be a big presence at a higher level esp. surrounded by better players.

Ooooh, and very telling comments by Mounga on how Razor lets him play his natural game in the Crusaders...

    Dallas McCleod looks the business.

Really struggling with your concept of comedy fella.

Just saw the highlights. Was he shit in the overall game?

Definitely improved on last season and looks at home at super level - but the calls from a wee while ago for him to be an AB after one good game were over the top.

Keeps this up he'll definitely be in contention next year, especially if he shows he can cover 13 too.

Its probably more indicative that a lot of people are not settled on our AB centers currently, and happy to consider options.

Yeah I don't get why McLeod is being talked about for higher honours. For me as a Saders supporter, I am almost getting to the point where I don't cringe when he is in the 23. I hope he has a long way to go before donning the black jersey.

I think one of McLeod's issues is his speed is very Goodhue-esq, except he has yet to show the smarts to go with it.

@Old-Samurai-Jack if everybody is fit I'd love to see Gardiner get a decent run at 6 for the Saders. Just how they do that I am not sure. Grace 8, Gardiner 6, then it's Blackadder or Christie at 7.

Blackadder's best position is 7...he's a shit load better than Christie...

The thing about Christie he doesn't carry great,But he is the work horse, tackles stats are insane and great around the maul and ruck.

Grace,Gardner,Blackadder would be a real hard arsed LF trio I would love to see it.
Then depending on the opposition Christie,Lilo-Willie or Havilli who has been good this season tackles hard carries well on the bench.

Yeah, I don't know if he is a 6 or a 7 at AB level but I wondered why people might think Christie was superior at 7..

The Crusaders injury issues are extremely frustrating. There has to be a reason why half our squad is unavailable? Has our strength & conditioning team changed? Whilst there has been a range of different injuries, there has to be a science based reason for this happening? Otherwise, it's just bad luck?

@Cantab79 it's not just the Crusaders though is it? IIRC @Stargazer wonders if it's the added speed. I wonder if they are being more cautious with injuries and niggles this year because of the world cup.

Well yeah like you say, it's a bit like Pocock being a workhorse because his jackal stats were so good. If you're ignoring other aspects of the game, it's easier to jack up your stats in your "speciality".

@Crazy-Horse Yeah, that was me. Just thinking, more speed means more power going into collisions, increasing the chance of injury. Also more likely to increase the number of accidents.

I think most sides have comparable injuries to previous years. But a handful of sides have a lot more (in NZ it's the Crusaders and Highlanders)

It could be the speed but the uneven distribution makes me question that (surely it would be all sides). It could be something those sides are doing wrong. I'm almost certain it has nothing to do with being careful in RWC year.

I would lean towards bad luck

Teams have had worse luck in the past. Blues 2012 springs to mind when we had our 8 first choice locks missing to injury & cancer

@Duluth yeah may very well be right. Bad luck is probably the simplest answer.

Yeah not surprised. It's not like he's saving his energy for one of his block busting runs, or trying to move big bodies at the breakdown. He's a great tackler...
