The tackling from MP, sheesh. As bad I’ve seen for a while.
I’m all for getting these players opportunities but it’s hard to see what these guys are playing for. No natural fan base and personal pride will only get you so far in pro sports.
Put them in black and white, have them play their games in Napier, there's your fan base, punt the donkey of a coach and bring in Rennie or Ozich, then you've got a real pro team.

I must admit, I disappointed they haven't seemed to click with a fan base. Perhaps the thoughts that the PI community would get behind them was a little hopeful, would love them to play some games in Samoa/Tonga to try and get some support etc. Also Mauger getting grief, not sure how much anyone can do with the cattle, but Filo Tiatia doesn't fill me with confidence either.

The scary thing is the Highlanders could easily finish as high as 6th. The top four teams as amazing. The bottom half are rubbish and we are probably the best of them.
Reality of most comps isn't it, I watch a bit from Pommy land, France etc too, and there is normally a few top teams you know will be fighting it out, most sports I watch it happens, you have realistic contenders, some that will win comp with a few lucky breaks, and the make up the numbers almost.

Gilbert ... shot at higher honours?
I think he’s worked his way into that group of players that…if given the shot because of injury or whatever, wouldn’t let himself down, I hope that growth continues

Loves Groot, but think he could do with a few fitness sessions
He is becoming a monster. Dominant in the collisions and set-piece. Looks tailor-made for test rugby but yeah... it looks like needs to take ballet lessons or something for the quick pace of early rounds SR.

Was anyone else disappointed with PPP, he gave away a few real dumb penalties I thought!
Thr penalties were annoying. But, he was ammense around the park early on.

Dawai made 1 tackle missed 5
TUJ made 1 tackle missed 4Not quite so bad for either in the end.
Dawai - 4, 5
TUJ - 3, 4But Glibert made 2 and missed 4. Smith and Fakatava missed 7 tackles between them (3 and 4, respectively).

Agreed, I think his presence around the park was very welcome, I’ll take someone actively trying to impose themself of the game any day, he can work on the penalties

It's not like our top locks don't give away penalties either ...

Gilberts biggest chance would be as a bench replacement. Can play everywhere in the backline.
