    "It's also understood the Crusaders approached former assistant coach Andrew Goodman, but he is locked into his contract with Irish club Leinster and won't be moving back to New Zealand." @Chris, is this true?

    Yes he went on a one year deal and it has been rolled over for a 2nd year.

    I heard Goodman is the man the Crusaders are after depending on how tight that contract is.
    Otherwise it is another man’s job.

    Huh? according to you they'd already locked in their next coach and were just waiting for the right time to announce it?

    @Chris does this suggest anything? Crusaders are looking for 2 coaches next season.

    Not that I have heard but maybe.
    He fits well with the criteria they seem to be looking for.

    think he did a bit of work with Crusaders backs during their home games 2017/2018, might've also coached the development team at the time?

    Yes he did and off course was Canterbury HC.
    He did a great job as attack coach at Bath so would fit into Hansens role well.

    I can't recall because Canterbury have had too many teams that have looked like they are poorly coached the last few years, but Maddock springs to mind when I think of those teams. Please tell me I am wrong. Actually, did he even coach Canterbury?

    @Crazy-Horse You're right. Canterbury only went backwards when he was head coach (2018-2019, then to Toshiba). Canterbury got worse after him and started improving again when Marty Bourke took over in 2022.

    His coaching stats are here: https://www.rugbydatabase.co.nz/team/coachList.php?teamId=11

    Yeah he did coach Canterbury was not a good success as you say Canterbury went though a decline when he took over.Plus some weird selections in his time.

    As I understand it Andrew Goodman has an out clause in his Leinster contact,as he is an assistant coach and he had it written in to his contract in case Razor became AB coach.

    @Chris

    Blues: Schmidt, Cotter, Boyd, Pivac

    Crusaders: Goodman staying at Leinster, Cotter, Brad Mooar, Glenn Delaney, Deans (though unlikely to leave Japan, and Reds are after him)

    Indeed that would be the most narrow-minded and shortsighted decision the canes management had ever made
