Waratahs v Chiefs

BBBR described the game well, it was a grind. Both teams were guilty of some terrible handling errors, and that wasn't always due to pressure from the opposition. You have to give the Tahs plenty of credit for their defence and attacking the breakdown, which gave Weber problems. This game showed there are some players you don't want anywhere near the Chiefs starting XV in a big game, namely Slater and Gatland. The jury is still out on Selby-Rickit too, and I wonder if some of the issues in the scrum in the 1st half were partly due to him.

This ref is on the take. How was Nankivell supposed to get out of the way when two Tahs fell on him?
It also didn't help that someone connected with his head which was the reason he fell awkwardly to the ground. But we didn't get endless replays and Turinui and co were very silent on this incident.
It looked suspiciously like an elbow 'fend' too.

Gatland sets way too deep. When we try and clear from around the 22 he is just about on the 5 metre line then the kick goes out just past the 22 again. In one instance I saw the halfback hesitating to find him and they didn't expect to see him so far away.
Tahs forwards did their homework on the ref and it appeared like the Chiefs didn't. They started trying the same crap of walking around the ruck and disrupting themselves in the second half

i feel we are strugling at tighthead this season. ryan not us good as last season and dyer finding his feet. really need moli fit and back to best form which on last seasons form is unlikely,
happy enough where were are . happy that our rested players from the rebels had a week to get a game under there belts before the blues. have a feeling a lot of players ,even though its just one weeks rest, dont play well after a weeks rest especially if there is a group -
@ploughboy looks like akira and Patrick will play chiefs but hoskins might have weekend of as 5 week stand down unless he's scratched tomorrow against force, RTS won't play for few weeks but same was said about Patrick and hodgy unlucky

Yuk. Found the reffing of the breakdown all over the place and game often seemed slowed down too. Ref allowed Tahs to get a player in Weber's zone nearly every breakdown with impunity. Handling was awful but I wonder if the lost composure came from all those frustrations.
Was disappointed by Gatland Sowakula Slater and Ratima. Backs don't function so well with Gatland at 10. The player he passes to gets barrelled too often.
Narawa Cane Dmac and Retallick were very good though in setting the example. -

Yeah, Ryan is finding the scrummaging is different in SR compared to Europe. The main thing is just to have a solid platform on your own ball.
