Yep both Hansen and Leon are locked in
Great news.
The blues are better under Leon but is he ready to be assistant AB coach? Seems to be outcoached on key games IMHO.
It depends on his role I suppose,
Back coach or defence coach.Hope it isn't defence.
McMillan is the guy I'd like to see coaching the All Black's defense, he's filled that role for last few seasons until this year I think.
He wouldn't work with Razor though as they are both out and out head coaches & I'd say Clayton will commit to the Chiefs until at least 2025.

Let’s get the best analytical coach of the past 30 years on the team, masterstroke!
Well, we do keep being told by those in the know that Roberston is a coaching genius, the like of which we've never seen before....
But on a serious note, I hope he's actually smart, open and humble enough to get input from the likes of Mr Smith.

Razor does defence, so unless he has no portfolio, defence coach not required. Bye bye McLeod, please

Gatland was the defence coach last year for the Chiefs. This year it is David Hill.

It seems McMillan only coached the defense in 2021.
"This coming season Gatland was poised to take over the lineout portfolio, which McMillan had overseen in 2022 following the departure of forwards coach Neil Barnes at the conclusion of the 2021 season, when McMillan was tasked with defence."

Robertson is understood to have settled on, and now informed, his preferred All Blacks coaching team. That includes incumbent forwards coach Jason Ryan leading the scrum/lineout/breakdown, Blues head coach Leon MacDonald taking charge of attacking shape, highly-regarded Crusaders assistant Scott Hansen overseeing defence and Holland designing strike plays.
For New Zealand Rugby, the awkward ramifications of signing off that team would involve telling All Blacks assistants Scott McLeod (defence) and Greg Feek (scrum) they will soon be on the outer as part of a widespread cleanout, with head coach Ian Foster and Joe Schimdt already signposting their intent to move on after the World Cup.
Paywalled

Awkward ramifications? Must have been such an huge surprise to them all...hope none of them read that article.

Weird take by NZH

If that's the coaching lineup I hope there's a non coaching selector.. a similar role to Fox had recently
Robertson will obviously be a selector. MacDonald probably will and he has a good knowledge of the Blues region now. I would like to see a selector from the Chiefs or Hurricanes region to provide more first hand knowledge of players from those areas

Could be a good role for Wayne Smith? As I think the travel is his biggest issue.

I wanted someone else like Taimati Ellison to coach the defense, Scott Hansen is a great inside backs coach, he's had middling success as a defense coach, pretty sure when he was Mauger's defense coach at Leicester Tigers they set records for points conceded.
Or Razor could coach defense as he did for Crusaders in 2017 and when he was assistant for Canterbury.
-
From that article:
While unlikely, given it may rob the Crusaders of three coaches and expand the All Blacks coaching team to six, whispers on the rugby vine continue to promote Tamati Ellison’s credentials, with suggestions Robertson could, potentially, view him as an ideal skills coach.

How many assistant coaches does Robertson want? If that NZH article is correct, MacDonald is sort of redundant when you also have Holland in charge of the attack.
That is why I don't think the article is totally accurate.

4 assistant coaches is the norm, at Crusaders Razor has a forwards coach, defense & an attack + back/skills coach (an attacking strategy coach & another back coach focusing on individual skill development) this is a pretty typical coaching structure.
Chiefs Blues Landers have 5 assistant coaches by the way.

Not talking about the numbers of coaching staff
Maybe the roles are not correct and there is another coach involved in another role. -

There is nothing unusual about the details in that article.
It's the exact same group Robertson put forward last year Lol.
Things change
