Are there any winnable games for the Crusaders this year?
What are the odds on the Crusaders to win the spoon?
Way too early to write off the Crusaders.
Good start for the Chiefs. Cane looks like he set to annoy a few fans this year by having a good season and not just laying down for Dalton. BBBR and DMac had good shifts too - the worrying thing going by that tweet of the three of them earlier in the thread is that the Chiefs might need all 3 on the field to be at their best.
Stevenson carry on his late season form from last year.
Anyway, good way to start the proper rugby watching of the year.
I agree on Cane, he just never stopped tonight, and as you say BBBR was close to MOTM, and DMac, had a pretty mature performance and controlled game pretty well.
Early days, as other have said, but I thought DMac's kicking game was excellent. Would love to see that level of kicking being taken into the ABs playbook.

@Victor-Meldrew
His kicking was far superior to Mounga's, which made a big difference. But I am still wondering why the Chiefs don't use Stevenson's massive boot more often. They did it only once and it made them win about 60 meters. -

Jeez, if the Chiefs can roll the champs like that, just imagine what the Canes will do to them
Probably lose
Long way off. Last match before finals

Early days but Dmac and Weber so much better than their counterparts. BBBR being BBBR is heartwarming (wish it wasn't against the Crusaders though...).
Typical early-season Crusaders but if teams can take out the effectiveness of their forward pack, like the Chiefs always try to do, and put their halves under pressure, they might struggle this year. -
Forgot to mention Stevenson. Makes it look easy.

44 mins ... why fucking kick on attack ...
That tactic paid off overall. Numerous dabs through the line eventually made the defence keep half an eye on turning around to cover and Ratima's try took full advantage of that.

@cgrant DMac was the form No.10 at the end of last year when he played for NZ IV, he should have got game time against England. Saders had at least three forwards returning from serious injury and a few newbies. We were without Will Jordan so difficult to gage how Shaun Stevenson may go in the tests, although he must be knocking on the door. Is Cullen Grace okay injury wise?
-
Well done the Chiefs completely outplayed the Crusaders.
Smart 2nd half exploiting some gaps in defence that they targeted.
As for the Crusaders they looked badly under done probably not surprising with a number of players playing their first minutes of the season. -

I am hearing Grace has broken his shoulder again gone for the season.

God that sucks
For the few minutes he was on, what was hugely evident was both he and Blackadder were the only forwards who actually run on to the ball. And it made them ultra effective.

Yep poor bugger gutting for Grace.
I thought Lilo - Willie also got over the advantage line a few times. -

Seriously gutted if true. Last year he was just getting better and better.

Yeah I am hearing from a good source but he still has to have a scan, that was from the X Ray
Collar bone fracture on the same shoulder as last year.
I hope it is not as bad as they think it is. -
Slow starters and all that….
But there are some concerning signs, halfback play in particular. Whilst he wasn’t rated highly on here, but Bryn Hall has been excellent for us over the past couple of years and we missed him last night. I don’t have a lot of confidence in those two that played.
Other than Grace (before he went off) and Blackadder, we lacked pace from our forwards.
10-15 was a bit up and and down. I think we have a good mix of pieces there but we need some leadership out there.
