@Bones Was Brendon Pickerall the TMO…?
Don't think it was Pickerell, I thought it was a welshman.

If we could channel a mix of ABs 2015 and 2011 vintage wed be ok...
I'd be really worried about facing these two teams with an AB 2021 vintage, but the last 3-4 AB games have me thinking we can beat these two teams.
Maybe not on consecutive WE's and we still have some fragility, but so do the teams today - esp. France.
Agree basically.
Ireland clear No.1 team at the moment, but they aren't so clearly dominant like England '03, ABs '11, '15 (and some other years I forget).
Think a number of teams line up against each other with close to 50/50 chances.
Poss. momentum is going to be key - particularly for France. Be interesting to see how these two go against Scotland and England

Pickerill was the TMO. Based on the angles we were shown I had no problem with his decision.

Most blatant red card I've ever fucking seen. The player was practically unconscious. Get your blinkers checked.
I'm sure all Porter wants is consistency from Barnes eh.

Ireland kicking was better. Especially into the corners. Dunno why France dumped jaminet for ramos. Ramos just can field kick well.
Ireland got the rub of Barnes there they won’t have town in France.
Irekand have some really world class players. Their hooker (injured this week) & Doris are right up there.
France were on a 14 match streak, loss will help them imo.

@pakman Ireland do seem to live a charmed life when it comes to head contact - on both sides of the ball. Even the way Sexdoll jumps to make a tackle doesn't seem to have resulted in anything.
Must be that cloak you wear when you're number one.

100+ games to judge Barnes by and it can sometime be a mystery as to why he is WRs top ref.
Generally a good ref but he is still prone to have howlers and when he has an off game combined with a howler or two it attracts criticism like the clip above. Many of the head contacts pointed out in that clip aren't dangerous as they are 'passive' but it is also fair to say that the one that was YC'd also wasn't dangerous f the same logic is applied. The Head contact was secondary and from the tackled player's head whipping down, not from the tackler riding up IMO.
That Youtube channel is only useful in that someone has gone to the bother of collating potentially contentious stuff to look at. The analysis and comment is usually terrible. What I do find interesting (and commented on above) is just how much Ireland run the risk of a game changing call. Lots of upright tackling and shoulders at the collarbone area. You'd think that eventually they will get a (French) ref that screws them. The high tackle laws are there to drive safer technique and I see no technique change from Ireland.

Did the video highlight Penauds no arms tackle on Lowe?
It's a pathetic video. There were other instances that France got away with. The head contacts he highlighted were soak tackles. They don't cause damage like shoulder charges.

@profitius yeah he didn't make any mention about the extra padding in the shoulder/sleeve of the green jersey that allows WR to ignore head contact either.
You've had a tough week. Take a break, bud.
