All Blacks 2023

What parts of the game is Joe Schmidt responsible for? I see Bryn Hall was saying the team is getting better the longer Schmidt has been involved because he's improved the breakdown efficiency/contact work.
Is he in charge of all of the attacking play? Moves from set pieces (for instance he's been given loads of credit for Jordan's try v Ireland) as well as the general play structure and breakdowns?

John Hart got a lot of grief given his %.
He had a bad year (1998?) and a poor RWC campaign, where he played the world's best 15 at 13 among other things
and came from Auckland, and was corporate. A few chips on a few shoulders (myself included at the time)

because his win percentage is boosted hugely by being handed arguably the best AB team in my lifetime, and also Christian Cullen. And then when they started retiring and it was Hart's time to pick the team we sucked.

Foster always seemed like a guy who was out of his depth, with a very lightweight coaching group. But his players appear to love him, and for all his real and perceived faults it is that love and loyalty that seems to have helped fuse the group with an esprit de corp that might take them all the way. I'm happy to celebrate that

I’m not really worried how good foster is now ,
We’ve got a new coach next year anyway,
I just want to win because Allblacks
If we win It’s like splitting up with your girlfriend and she gives you a blowjob

So Schmidt has been doing a bit of everything
Part of Schmidt's brief when he was selector was to work with Foster in analysing the opposition and assist with strategies. Once he became an assistant, it became much broader. In addition to assisting Foster with the overall strategy and attack play, Schmidt has focused on the breakdown, keeping the ball alive and helping defence coach Scott McLeod.
He must be going alright. That is Richard Knowler writing a puff piece on a non Cantab. Even compares him to Wayne Smith

i thought @kiwiinmelb had summed it but perfectly...and the @Machpants did in fact fix it

I didn’t want the All blacks to win the World Cup because I’m a Razor fan. I listened to the media and I took a side.
Straight after the Ireland game I saw Razor hanging out of the window of his car celebrating the All blacks win.
I went into the game thinking I don’t care if Ireland win. But I was on the edge of my seat cheering on the abs thru the whole game.
I was sucked into the whole Foster vs Razor debate. When actually it’s not that it all. Looking back now the NZRFU totally fucked foster. But that’s not Razors fault. He applied for a job and got it.
I’ve been bitter towards Foster the whole time and I was wrong.
I think the NZRFU have done considerable damage to rugby over the last few years. -
It does make me laugh how foster didn't apply for the job, as he knew he wasn't going to get it. Like we should have sympathy for that, several media articles saying he's hard done by. Same fucking thing as after 2019, basically no one applied, cos there was no point - foster was a shoe in. NZR fucked a lot of things, but giving notice to foster, and future abs coaches, that what he delivered during his term is not good enough even with a rwc victory.
And that really only came about cos we al whined like bastards about it. Even NZR could see the damage being done by their closed shop. And rightly so.
I hope foster rides off into the sunset with two fingers raised, Sir Foster of the redemption Arc & learnings galore. But a key point of that sentence is rides off

Surely not? I hated Mitchell more than you hate Fozzie and I always wanted the ABs to win in 2003.
Also, listened to the media?
Although TBF, we have been claiming the Cantabs prefer Cantab/Crusaders over ABs and we finally have confirmation.

We had at least one Cantab on the forum say they were cheering for the Aussies in the Bledisloe when Deans got that job haha

yeah...pretty vocal about not liking fozzie and very happy about the idea of a reset next year, exciting....but i never wanted the AB's to lose, never cheer against them, huge difference to resigning to the fact we may lose to Ireland (wrongly) and not caring
i did see english fans say they would be cheering for SA in the other SF because they didnt think they could beat the AB's....strange times

Because we know @ACT-Crusader didn't really mean it
-
@Kiwiwomble because we have (seemingly) unlimited upvotes. I believe the mods performed a sort of quantitative upvoting easing in light of unprecedented upvote shortages after the 2011 final and now here we are in an inflationary spiral
