Good score in the end, but not a match defining one.
Be interesting to see how our quicks go.
It is match defining as in we are set up for a win or draw. The loss option is currently off the table.
It could come back but odds are in our favour. What a complete novice / rookie NZ cricket watching post!!
Very predictable position for us to be in right now. If we are still batting at the end of the day (unlikely with no Mitchell) then it will have moved in our favour. But that is a long way away!

@Chris ah, I was wondering what was up with illness and Mitchell missing. Hadn't caught a bug was going around.
Man, there really seem to be some dead spots on the pitch now - a few balls have barely bounced but other areas still seem to be getting a bit of pop. No one is bowling with anything above medium pace though.
Aside from batting out day 4 what do we think of as a target? 300ish? Just over 2 hours play to get 60-70 runs. I'd rather Bracewell upped his scoring and Blundell can anchor the rest of the innings.

@booboo they showed the top scorers batting at #3 earlier (or yesterday?) and Kane's record is epic. Digging into the stats of our true elite players always highlights how much less cricket we play compared to others. It would mess with revenue and be a bitch to schedule but I'd love to see more equity about games per series and stuff. A 3 match series should really be the minimum but we still get stiffed with shorter series.

Yeah it is keeping low especially on around 4th Stump line at one end.Hopefully it can play some tricks tomorrow.
300 at least I think it would set Pakistan 100 a session which is
getable on a decent pitch. And hopefully this pitch isn't tomorrow.
anything under 300 I think we maybe in trouble $320 would good IMO. -

Saw that. Kane's average better than most of those above him kn the list. (Sangakkara insane though, averaging 60+)

Not wanting to jinx but an hour batting tomorrow with 350 lead would give them 4.7 rpo in 75 overs.
300 in 90 overs only 3.3 rpo.
Maybe somewhere between, if we have the choice ...
May need to up scoring this evening if we want to chase a win.

Blundel has become a really solid bat for us normally at 7 strengthens our batting nicely very reliable bat.
Questions were being asked last year, particularly about his keeping. But 4 (?) stumpings) in two tests is pretty good!

@booboo will they be that worried about our spin options tomorrow? We've shown some good patches but there has also been a fair bit of dross. Pakistan might be feeling ok about having to bat at 3.5 or more.
Yeah. Need to set them a challenging RPO.
