Aura is currently on long term leave but has checked in to touch base.
Foster has well and truly buried the aura. But she can rise again, but there is a lot of defeated enemies that need to be sacrificed to get us there.

What is this so called aura? If there is such a thing it isonly a thing that could be earnt or lost over a huge amount of time. It's a press thing as far as I can see.
It is not a press thing at all, but a real effect that opposition teams had when facing the ABs. Not now, because Foster has fucked it with his pathetic record, but it was real. For example
...have this thing about their invincibility in my head. I always looked on the All Blacks as the best team in the world, so you automatically assume that they have the best players from 1 to 15.
Joe Marler during England’s tour of NZ in 2014
The reason this thread is here is because (NH especiallY) have been saying the aura is dead for years. And then getting smashed. It has been amusing. Now that Foster is in charge and it is us that is getting smashed by NH teams, the aura is not so funny anymore RIP

Young fella.
She is not "the" Aura. And she certainly requires an initial capital.

She certainly was spelled with a capital when she married Taika Waititi.

Yep, what I saying this so called Aura seems to be there or not depeding who you read, there was always same talk of it disappearing in 70s etc, I remember Phil Kearns, and Jon Eales saying they had never found any Aura, just a team they could beat when they played well.
Hell it used to be supposedly almost impossible to win at Cardiff Arms park when the Welsh crowd sung , same with winning on high veldt in SA, same as Haka giving ABs an advantage, I heard more from media etc about it than players,, ok some players will talk about it when doing a build up to tests to feed the media and make ABs over confident, but ABs have alway and will always have very strong teams, and like now not so strong and there is all there is too it. I bet at times when this so called Aura was at it's prime we would have probably had 7-9 players named in any world XV, now we would be lucky to have 3? We just going through trough like we do every now and then after have an all time great team, and we now have teams that are going through peaks.
I must admit perhaps one of reasons I say it crap is I myself have never really seen any team in any sport that isn't beatable and that could just be personal thing, but I would never respect an opposition player that said any team he was playing had an aura. -

Well, let's close the thread.
Boring old common-sense/missing-the-point has spoken.Or change thread title to auréole? (I'm guessing that is French for 'aura'?)

I genuinely think this is the best thread on the Fern - great mix of sarcasm, irony and links to WTAF? articles.
In other words, it has a aura of its own

Some recent reports of missing Aura ...
From earlier this month:
Post Italy:
New Zealand has scaled the dizzying heights of World Cup excellence before, but recent form has resulted in speculation that the side doesn't impose the same intimidation factor or possess the same aura that they once did.

Sounds like someone needs to catch up on some Ranfurly Shield action.
