cant see it happening, either fifa will fold, apologise, promise to do better or these countries would fold if fifa called their bluff...but...the tiny part of my that loves some anarchy would love to see it
Did you see his 'i feel disabled, I feel like a migrant worker' speech? The most embarrassing, cringey shit I've ever heard
i did and agree, was actually horrible to watch, im assuming hes at least a millionare and claiming to have any understanding of what its like to work hand to mouth as a migrant worker let alone any of the other things he claimed to feel like
It's a mistake to assume because someone is rich now that they always were.
Gianni Infantino is the son of relatively poor Italian immigrants to Switzerland. Given how socially closed Switzerland can be (and the Valais particularly) he may have quite a lot of idea of how an immigrant worker might feel.

As someone who lives in the Valais, but has also lived in Ireland, it’s easier to assimilate in Valais. The Irish are awfully clannish. There are heaps of Italians in Valais.

Some cracking matches today

Switzerland made an ok fist of their game. 0-1 is no disgrace. I’m backing them to defeat Serbia and head for their usual round of 16 exit.
I give you guys no chance of taking down England 4-0.

Sth Korea a bit unlucky not to snag a draw I thought. Makes it almost impossible for them to make it now because they’ll need a win against Portugal now and for Uruguay to beat Ghana…

Netherlands and Senegal advance while Qatar gently weeps.
-
Won the anthems
Congratulations England on the win
-
I’m watching good vs evil. So far neither side has resorted to a nuclear option.
Next World Cup really sounds silly. 16 pools of 3 teams. Top 2 in each pool go thru. Winner will have played 6 rather than 7 matches.

Iran looking to score on the contra-attack.

Is it normal in English football commentary to give the score in another game being played at the same time? Totally spoils it for people who want to watch that other game.
The commentator in the USA-Iran game is providing regular updates of the England-Wales score.
The USA need a second goal as Iran could punish them on the break.
-
Fantastic free kick from Rashford, but fucking awful decision from the ref to award the free kick in the first place
VAR can tell you whether a player is a ball hair offside but can’t correct incorrect decisions like that
Second goal was superb from Kane and Foden but terrible from us
We need to play Wimbledon for this match
Long ball to Moore and see what happens

Normal. In the EPL they often have snippets of goal action from other games
-
US utterly dominated first half but only scored 1 goal. Second half they hung on by the skin of their teeth. They will head home after the round of 16 I would think.

The coverage we are getting is Bein Sport. Qatari English language provider.

Just to digress from the actual football fo5 a moment.
The media has been making a big thing about the poor fan experience.
I follow a couple of Fulham podcasts, one of which dropped a pod over the weekend with the three hosts all out in Doha.
They all agreed the experience has been brilliant. Grounds are magnificent, it's easy enough to get a beer, but the main thing is how good it is having all the games in one location. They have been able to mix and chat with fans from all over the world rather than the usual just from your group sort of thing. Everyone's really friendly and a real buzz. Been able to watch multiple games each day. They touched on the sportswashing theme and weren't trying to be apologists for the Qatari regime, simply pointing out that the actual fan experience is quite different to media reports.
Sounds very rugby World Cup, not football really. Above is consistent with what I’ve read / heard.

England team take so much shit, but they’ve just topped their group with 7 points.
Job done.
I would not be surprised if Senegal beat them
If Senegal get stuck in early and don’t cough up possession like we did England will choke
