Passing of Queen Elizabeth
-
I had a feeling this wasn’t far off when I saw the clip of her with Liz Truss. I commented to the missus that she had suddenly turned into a frail old lady.
Had the pleasure of meeting her only 5 years ago at her place and she was still very witty and up to speed. She doesn’t allow selfies but at least we got someone nearby to take photos of us.
Put in a decent innings and despite all the bullshit that goes along with royalty she was very much a back room diplomat and did a huge amount of good. Not convinced that Charles will be able to do that role anywhere near as well. Once he goes I think things may go in a very different direction and resemble the Euro monarchies more.
We have a King of NZ now. -
Rest in peace Your Majesty.
Such an awesome human.

She was fantastic imo. Utterly professional at all times despite the going ons of her wayward kids.
I think that she and her husband had the same family problems that many, if not most, families have experienced gave her a stronger connection to people. And without being too sentimental, the way she dealt with them probably helped people in similar situations
Three words: Class to burn.

@Crucial he'll be a bit of a greenie given his passion for environmental issues and the like.
RIP Your Majesty. Amazing history and a genuine contributor to her country and people. The early years of her reign and her WW2 mahi are so distant, but she was kick ass. Definitely the last of the family holding onto that top tier of class and poise.
All shots at Royalty aside I feel for her family. It's hard grieving at any point, let alone on an international stage.
Counting down till Meghan Markle makes some trite comment about her being Liz's favourite or something

@Victor-Meldrew I loved this:
-
Hell of an innings. A constant in many lives and seemed such a dedicated, nice person.
There will be a lot of snark. But ultimately despite the scandals and the questions over the monarchy's value, I think in particular she was a shining light, and example to the rest of them.
Good luck the Chuck, following that.

What a magnificent example; a life entirely given to service. Feels like a new era now. Rest in peace.

George
Charlotte
Louis
Harry
Archie
Lilibet
Andrew8th in line so he’s got his work cut out. It wasn’t that long ago that they allowed females equal ranking to males so that added another spanner into the works.

Do we just chuck all our coins away now?
Banknotes as well. Best thing is to remove all your money from the bank and throw it. If that's a hassle I will do it for free. Just PM me and I will send account details.

Didn't Harry renounce his titles?

Without being a monarchist it does seem strange that someone who has been an ever-present though distant part of your life is suddenly gone.
Grateful for her dignified life of service.
Queens called Elizabeth eh? GHard act to follow. One presided over the birth of an empire and the other its disolution. Bothe remarkable women.
Kings called Charles - urk!
