it was this game. Terminator stuff.
And, like the last Terminator movie, several years ago. When you look at the team list, I'd suggest there is a better balance to that back row that allows Cane to get on with his job in that instance.
Team list:
1 Kane Hames
2 Codie Taylor
3 Nepo Laulala
4 Patrick Tuipulotu
5 Samuel Whitelock (Captain)
6 Liam Squire
7 Sam Cane
8 Luke Whitelock
9 Aaron Smith
10 Beauden Barrett
11 Rieko Ioane
12 Sonny Bill Williams
13 Ryan Crotty
14 Waisake Naholo
15 Damian McKenzieReplacements
16 Nathan Harris
17 Wyatt Crockett
18 Ofa Tu'ungafasi
19 Scott Barrett
20 Matt Todd
21 TJ Perenara
22 Lima Sopoaga
23 Anton Lienert-BrownBetter balance ? More like two extremely forgettable All Blacks.

Given they were a substantial step down from Nonu and Smith I hate to imagine the slow, unskilled, tiny donkeys in the AB 12 and 13 jerseys come 2024……

Maybe. But you need a proper 8 and a proper 6 to help that 7 be a proper 7.
I'd argue it is a better backrow than what went out there tonight.
Ardie is a 7, not an 8, for all the yards in contact he makes.Lot of talk on here tonight about playing guys out of position, and the only way to fix that? Well, seems obvious.

Squire had his moments to be fair.

Yeah I thought he went alright.
I guess to extended my point using that game against Wales as an example; highlights the real issue about the ABs: using backline bullshit to win games for a decade and then slamming into brick wall defences that bullshit can't unlock.

The Ardie at 8 is a really interesting phenominom, fenominum, phenomenon. Whatever. It started with coaches, I am pretty sure in ABs, realising his potential off the back of an attacking scrum. He's so fucking awesome at that. And even when he was playing 7, he'd go to the back for attacking scrums. That's really where is should have ended. But it didn't. And our best 7 since Richie has been unbalancing back rows since

Big positive was the massive gate money taken tonight
Oh wait
On a serious note, the playing surface looked superb

What chance Gregor Paul will have an article tomorrow about why isn't Papalii playing ...
I don't have a problem at all that he's not playing, cos Ardie is so much much better. Really, paps is great but he's no Ardie. The point is more why Ardie and Cane are in the same loose trio.
