I quite like how Riley Hohepa plays. Seemed calm and made good decisions. Has a decent boot too.

The maul really has become a joke.
It’s going sideways and the ref still gives them far too much latitude to “use it”. And even when he calls “use it”, guess what the team doesn’t immediately use it.
So stupid.
It has been for ages.
Odd that you picked this game with perfect mauls to complain about it though ....
There were two in this game that showed everything that is wrong with them.
Oh yeah, can’t stand the Magpies.
That's to be expected, you are from the Empire and we are the plucky Rebels.

You’re more like the Jawas, little boys playing in the sand and selling toy robots 😉

Not long back from the game and can confirm the hip flask made it into the ground and got a good work out given it was so damn cold! Somehow I honestly and genuinely thought my guys had lost and there was an awful lot of unrepeatable things said under my breath as I literally stormed out of the ground immediately after the whistle not wanting to watch the hand over of the prized trophy. Getting back to the fale and read the last page or so of this thread without seeing the score mentioned and thought Crucial was being very magnanimous in victory. I then checked the Superbru website to see if all other tippers in the Silver Fern pool had also lost out by picking the Bay only to see the score was 33 - 32 to the good guy. You could almost have knocked me over with a feather.
Thank god there is a limit to the number of pointless and aimless box kicks and punts straight down the middle of the field with little in the way of chasers as my guys used up their entire seasons quota in just this one game.
Counties seemed to get the lineout drives a bit nullified by somehow managing to get the Bay going sort of sideways rather than the traditional straight forward drive something so successfully used over the last few seasons. Whether that was Counties' initiative or something new devised by the Bay I am not sure but for one it was a good defensive ploy and the other a not altogether successful attacking ploy.
I can confirm the nameless fullback in the black jersey was awful and looked like he would be struggling to make the 105kg team much less the under 85s. Think he must have been someone that was passing the ground and answered an SOS call when the regular fullback must have injured himself in the warmups. I did not notice him playing premier grade club rugby here in the Bay so guess he must be a senior reserve player. Can anyone put a name to the guy for me please?
The HB backline did not really have much punch, especially in midfield which was disappointing so expect some changes there and Oh please God let there be one at the number 15 jersey, even if I have to go to church on Sunday to get you to listen to me.All is well with the world afterall.

Kurt Baker and Marvin Karawana are excited right now, finally someone worse.
Still yet to plumb the depths of Luke Rooney and that Sth African lock we had.
Haha, I almost forgot Luke Rooney played for the Magpies.

Just back from the pub. Just two comments.
Game of two halves and glad the first half was better, but if we continue playing like this, we won't keep the Shield until the end of the season.
The coaches must drop Tiatia and sent him back to BOP asap. He doesn't play like a Magpie, he's just awful and we have better backs that miss out on game time because he's starting. I really hope he isn't a coach's pet. I may or may not have broken a glass tonight.

Hard choice for the chiefs fullback position next year.
ENS or Tiatia
-
@Yeahtheboys No, easy peasy, because Tiatia will be playing for the Western Force next season. I hope they keep him there.

@ACT-Crusader I thought he was gonna be an ATG when he burst into the scene at Penrith lol, then somehow ended up at Hawke's Bay, and looked absolutely awful haha. So random thinking about it.
