i said the same thing about Bumrah when he first arrived on the scene. All that explosive effort in the last few strides i was sure his shoulder was going to come apart.
31 tests and 132 wickets at under 32 he seems to be going okay
Indians and pace bowling
arewere an uneasy mixThey have taken massive strides in getting their talent pipeline sorted. impressive - generated a high performance programme with the $$$ they have.
Took them long enough

@Chris I am interested in your opinion on Sears. I have watched him a few times these past few weeks and to be honest I am not sure if he will have a long Black Cap career. I know he allegedly bowls mid 140s but jeez it looks like it takes one hell of an effort for him. His action appears awkward, like an action that is an injury waiting to happen. I haven't seen him get much movement and again maybe because of his action, he is not exactly accurate.
I hate being negative towards the kid, but he has been talked up a bit in the media and I haven't seen much so far to justify it. I would love to be wrong.
Hey Mate
I know what you mean the load up is all out of alignment and the follow through looks like a stress fracture waiting to happen.
He seems to get his pace from the long arm extension and snap through the wrist.
I have seen a few bowlers with not classical actions, some have had injuries and some have gone through their careers with very little.
I think he will need to stick to the short form game as that action will not sustain long spells of 20 overs a day in test cricket,
2 or 3 over spells would suit him.
He may be ok for one dayers if they can use him in a 4/3/3 split but I think his pace may drop dramatically in the last 3 over spell.
Definitely not an in to the wind bowler his frame couldn’t handle that and his pace would drop off by 10/15ks I reckon.
Refreshing to see a Kiwi bowling mid 140s though, I hope he stays fit but that action is a worry. -

Did it though? When did money really hit the BCCI - I thought it was post-John Wright era ... kinda getting into IPL. So 10 years or so?
OK I ooked it up. More like 15. 10 years to start producing top Test players seems reasonable, considering the history of pace bowlers in India hasn't been strong.

Have any of you guys watched the NZC videos on youtube the last few years?
They are terribly edited, sometimes skipping 100 runs forward, or 3 wickets forward.
Generated by a (terrible) algorithim.
Usually 75% of the comments below the video are complaining about how terrible they are.
I've even read a NZC video, where in the video description it was an explanation that the video was generated by an algorithm ( I assume a passive aggressive request to stop complaining). This was after they switched from Sky to Spark.
The ironic thing was the (longer, 20ish minutes) highlights packages inside the Spark app were way better than the paint-by-numbers packages that Sky used to put out on their satelite channel.
But what ever the disconnect between the broadcaster highlights and the NZC youtube highlights was, the chasm happened after they left sky.
-
I post the above, because I was was just looking at some youtube viewing numbers on the NZC channel.
This is from the last major tour by India, 3 years ago in 2020, (so when Sky was still the broadcaster).
1st test:
Day 1: 4 million views
Day 2: 2.1m
Day 3: 2.3m
Day 4: 0.4m2nd test:
Day 1: 0.7 million views
Day 2: 4.9 million views
Day 3: 1.1 million viewsT20 series:
Match 1. 6.2 million views
Match 2. 2.6 million views
Match 3. 91 million views
Match 4, 41 million views
Match 5, 17 millionODIs:
1st match: 10 million views
2nd match: 17 million
3rd match: 2 million -
91 million views for 1 video (That was a T20 that went to a super over and India won, same with the next highest 41 m).
4.9 million for day 2 of a test but 0.7m for the day before. What was the difference? The title of the video included a gushing description of a truely incredible Jadeja catch.
Doing some googling. A five minute video with a single unskippable add - earning minimum of 2c per view. That 3 year old T20 video with 91m views has earnt 1.8 million dollars. And it is still there, still earning with zero further investment.
Now a 10 minute video of Test match day would have 2 unskippable adds.
-
But this is clever. Someone there has found footage of Dhoni bowling and Kohli keeping (when Baz got his triple and they were tired) and posted that quirk as a short video in the NZC channel.
Posted 7 months ago, from a match almost 11 years ago. Already has 9.3m views.
That person (not algorithm) has earned NZC probably approx 200k in 7 months. From a 11 year old match.
I wonder what their salary is? -
Large digitisation project going on with old TVNZ content which is yet to start, so a lot of older stuff is currently Iocked up in temperature-controlled storage.
Hopefully that gets underway soon though.

@Chris where did you find that info?
It was sent to me by Cricket Australia yesterday, they send out that sort of stuff to Coaches at Rep level and above.
It probably is on line somewhere by now I would think. It was on reddit before I even woke up yesterday
