Foster, Robertson etc

@KiwiMurph agreed even more so considering foster has survived a contract extension and a review from memory
-
It has been an abysmal 4 years not only in results but in terms of innovation, direction, tactics, etc. Same results but a sense of building, a new approach, etc, would have been far more acceptable. I feel 4 years have been frustratingly wasted.

@Machpants I wonder if Eddie Jone's appointment may have speed this along. Whoever takes over next year is going to have to oversee a major rebuild as there are so many players leaving. Razor sounds like he is in the boxseat. Wonder who is in contention for the assistants roles.
I read somewhere that Robertson is keen to have Holland included as one of his assistants, so if he gets the role that is great news for Hurricanes fans.
Then you can replace him with the other Jason - former Manawatu head coach, probably their best ever, now coaching Suntory with remarkable success.
-
he doesn't seem to care about making friends, thought i saw NZR say nothing anytime soon....then razor says this
-
@kiwi_expat O'Halloran...always very insightful when he speaks
-
@Kiwiwomble That could be about the appointment process, not necessarily the appointment itself. He later says 1 or 2 weeks, which is consistent with the date NZR bosses meet (23 February) to discuss that process.

@gt12 I think it's a fair comment that he's been patient. He's hung around 4 more years in NZ after being passed over for Foster.
He made himself unavailable for any other position other than head coach.
He better be fucking good because he comes across as a bit of a tool to me.

I just want the coach announcement to be made, so we can start complaining about something else...
Yeah, and I'm sick of the media speculation as well. Anything for a click!
There's a lot of silly speculation in the media but I have no problem with van Royen's reporting today. The direct quotes from Robertson were news worthy
The question is whether Robertson is playing political games and attempting to put pressure on NZR by making those comments, or if he stupidly blurted out something he wasn't supposed to
This comment is interesting to me:
“I’ve had options, but I’ve always said, my preference is to be here in New Zealand and coach my country, but I’ve also been really patient. I think where we are now, we’re going to deal with rather than what has happened....the next two weeks is big.
Has he been that patient? He's been basically telling them to appoint him or he'll leave. I don't mind him doing so either, but I'm not sure that makes him patient, given he is under contract here.
Did you miss the part where Razor missed out on the job after an 'exhaustive process' in 2019, due to Fosters 'superior assistants' - Robinson and Impey's words, only for them to extend Foster's employment after said 'superior assistants' were swapped out.

So did Foster when he applied,Every coach applies as Head Coach in any sport, you don't go into a head coach application role and say if I am not good enough for Head coach can I please have an assistant role you are Fucked from the outset.
Every coach applying for HC applies for that position,not assistant roles when has that ever happened. -

Swapped out for one of Razor's Asst too!

Some fuel for the rumor fire. I read yesterday from a commenter on 'The Roar' site who claimed to have a contact high up in Rugby Australia who told him that Rennie is going to the Blues and Rangi to the All Blacks.

With someone like T Ellison as his assistant.

Given he went head to head with Foster I don't blame him.
A Hart-Wylie part 2 situation was not going to work.

I thought Rennie was going to replace Wayne Smith as the Director of Rugby at Kobelco? Better money I'm sure.

Is anyone else a little concerned with Razor’s comments?

Now that would be outstanding. I rate Rennie as a coach although he had been linked with Kobelco in Japan.

@TheMojoman in what way?

@TheMojoman in what way?
Yeah I am wondering in what way too. Sounds to me like a job applicant knows whether he has been successful or not and is waiting for the result to be announced so he can talk about it. Happens all the time in my 'industry'.
