Foster, Robertson etc

Oh and when Foster said he was strategic I thought immediately, ah, he is dropping the assistant coaches to save himself.
Didn't post it though so you'll just have to believe (or disbelieve) my inner sauce. Seems loyalty only goes so far. Anyway, a good press question for Foster, if he is 'strategic' couldn't he have been 'strategic' when he assembled his team to start with? Or does 'strategic' not necessarily mean good or bad strategy?Foster can do no right huh?
Bends over backwards to remain loyal for as long as he can, probably too long. Is too loyal.
Eventually pulls the pin, and he's now "thrown them under the bus"*.- as heard from James McOnie this arvo on ZB.

You have a point. Foster can't win. And I don't think I ever said Foster was too loyal. My beef is that Foster can't win. Literally!
What worries me, if anything, the assistants let go had as strong a record or better than he did. Not clear to me that they are more responsible for team strategy than Foster. -
The problem lies with the whole coaching strategy of continuation from the good ole days of the Henry/Hansen era. Foster only knows that era and what we are seeing is a very stagnant team.
Ryan comes in, and maybe a few others that would have made an awesome team under a whole new philosophy. I fear the old regime is still going to stink out the bus and the rot continues. The NZR could actually be fucking it up even more by this half-arsed approach. -
I hope Ryan is allowed to make actual changes to how the tight five play. I also hope if he has a say in selection he rises above provincial bias because Taylor desperately needs to be dropped.
Also, if Moat was responsible for the shithouse attack, hopefully Foster can make a positive change here too.
I think not, obviously, so hopefully they are looking some out sense quickly.

I fucking would, I'd throw all my toys out of the cot and switch to watching Origin on repeat instead.
Also, Robinson could well be pro Bitchell, after all he played the bulk of his tests under him.
-
Ship our biggest ever halftime deficit? Well fuck clearly defence isn't an issue.
-
@Donsteppa The results could well improve now but still not fulfilling the teams potential. So frustrating.
Where's Razor -

It's THE issue. Just like the BCs couldn't stop England scoring, we can't put the opposition under any defensive pressure right now. Few turnovers, few or no forced errors

Yeah - anyone who wants to "Bring back Mitch" is going to burn plenty of initial credit.
That's not something Fozzie has lots of right now.

Robertson seems to be more popular with his players, doesn't seem to talk in Mitch style double speak or act as aloof as Deans or Mitch

I was meaning Mark Robinson's opinion of Mitch, not that Razor was like him. Razor seems nothing like him in interviews.

If Robinson even suggests Mitchell, he can pack his farking bags immediately
-
Sure Ryan might fix our pack, but he sure as shit ain't gonna fix the defence that McLeod is in charge of.
Maybe fozzie will give the ABs some attacking spark like his Chiefs used to have, but then that still relies on us scoring more points than our sieve-like defence allows in.
-
@taniwharugby Tamati Ellison was an awesome defense coach at Saders, bring him in or an NRL coach.
-
@SBW1 of all the media articles and speculation about who might go, McLeod has barely been mentioned, clearly someone thinks he is doing a good job!

Well someone has to take Plumtrees spot on panel. and as assistant coach I guess it would be Ryan., and if Ryan isn't allowed to makre required xhanges he wouldn't be there would he?

If Ryan is stepping up to the Forward coaching job replacing Plumtree,Then it would make sense he takes Plumtrees position as the other selector.
But it is Foster and NZR so probably could be anyone then. -

Totally worth paying out Scarlets thousands, and fucking over the canes by over promoting two coaches, for the last couple of years

Scott Robertson
Jason Ryan
Leon MacDonald
Joe Schmidt selector and analysis.Just do it for crying out loud.

I hope they think and plan it through well. Taking MacDonald out stuffs the momentum the Blues have made. Taking Ryan from the Crusaders will impact them too. They did the same with Plumtree and Canes and now he’s out.

The term Newshub used was that he "wanted the full runway" (i.e., 4 years before a RWC).

He can afford to be patient. If Foster miraculously turns things around the job will be his in 2024. If not the job will be his sooner.

I’m surprised Macleod survived, our defence was clueless against the Irish.

So almost twice as long as Foster's appointment to prove himself (or not) at the top level then?
Hmmm.
