Foster, Robertson etc

The Foster press conference was a joke This Fucking guy is delusional. If we get through the quarter finals of the Wold cup I will be amazed. Just admit that you are not up to it and resign gracefully. Any other coach in any other sport would be sacked by now. This is not about U Foster, it is what is best for the team and you may be a good bloke and all but you are not it. Enough said..

This saga shows how bloody hard it is to change a structure where the top tier needs changing
NZR/Head Coach/Assistants/AB Captain/AB Players
Pure speculation, but the best person to sort this out would be Whitelock. Ask him who do you want to run the show. He knows it all, been in a successful environment with Crusaders for years. Knows what works. Totally unfair on Whitelock of course. The situation is a mess.

Que?
His username is "fan"
He has, for some bizarre reason, named his computer after an operating system.
And believes that if he issues the "reboot" command from within a certain directory, that'll change which version of the kernel is used after said reboot.
Clear?Well he is a fan of Ubantu (Linxux/Unix) operating system and he is using a shell command (UNIX) to change directory (CD) and reboot the system so I guess that is a geeky way of saying dump everybody and start afresh..

Glad you can understand but: Not just lost a series Mr Foster.
"I believe in him as a person and as a leader..and the leadership group around him...high degree of accountability"... I can't tell you but "what this jersey demands is that we are honest with each other."
I don't think I can make it through the Foster media debacle. Don't tell me he talks to the players like this!

I think there is a lot of wishful thinking posts going on here. Schmidt is in for selection, and oopposition analysis. Nice, and it would be good if the ABs actually had one clue to deal with opposition play (they seem schocked again and again that the Irish run a lot of decoys). But he will not be taking a bigger role, he's a homebody for personal reasons, he'll be an asset but not game changing. The idea that getting Ryan in is to prep for Razor is ridiculous. All this is is re-arranging deck chairs, cos the rot is much higher. It maybe that Foster is rated well by the players, but that doesn't mean he is any good. Either, despite what he says, the players don't understand what he wants, or what he wants is what we have seen, utter kack tactics. Both ways, Foster is not good enough, and NZR has it's head so far up it's arse they believe their own press, it is a common sign in a failing business. Fuck, that was how the Vietnam war was run by the Yanks, no one wanted to pass on bad news and those at the top couldn't dmit they fucked it up. So they kept getting deeper in the shit.

@Duluth Correct word or not; you know what I meant, don't you? Ryan might prefer to work with Robertson, and decline a job working for another head coach. Considering Brown did the same thing, it's not such a strange idea.
He might. But that tweet seemed to suggest a done deal.

Foster's assistant coaches, however, may not be so fortunate to determine their fate. While unable to reveal details, due to employment processes, Foster strongly hinted at imminent changes to his coaching team. The Herald understands these could be announced by Monday.

Yup, paywalled
Highly-rated Crusaders forwards coach Jason Ryan is believed to have been shoulder tapped to join the All Blacks.
But also
Suggestions MacDonald could join Foster's team are, however, thought to be wide of the mark.
The rest is just discussion on who's getting the boot
-
The other paywalled article is about the boot
Forwards coach John Plumtree and scrum coach Greg Feek reviewed poorly at the end of the 2020 season and then again at the end of 2021.
Those who know a thing or two about the nature of these reviews, say the feedback from the players was scathing, indicative of there being a serious issue rather than mild concerns.
There was no alternative narrative and yet Foster concocted one, and successfully argued that he could up-skill the two stragglers, provide on-the-job development opportunities and that he would also bring in Andrew Strawbridge as a consultant to address some of the holes in the coaching portfolio.
His loyalty to his people was admirable, but so too was it misguided as the All Blacks can't be a finishing school for aspiring coaches.

Not sure if true but I’m hearing Tim, booboo and gt12 have been given the nod as the new assistants. Good luck guys.

Stragglers? Plumtree and Feek? They aren't bad coaches (Irish players speak very highly of Feek), they just don't appear to be working within this coaching setup.
Maybe their methods are more suited to structured teams like Ireland and SA (where both have had a measure of success).

I looked at the NZR exec again https://www.nzrugby.co.nz/about-nzr/who-we-are/ they have at least two lawyers (and a communication officer who does not proofread) and seem more capable but younger than when I scanned before. The board by contrast and with a couple of exceptions look to me more like CV-padders. I'm guessing the CEO is the central power. And too scared or conservative to drop Foster who won't resign. Feek and Plumtree, if they missed KPI last year are by contrast easier to dislodge.
But i can't believe NZR think Foster can turn this around and based on his press conference today I don't believe he has the guile to persuade them. Notice how he tight-roped between saying Schmidt is helping him but didn't I think call him assistant coach. Internal damage control but external 'I am resilient' speech
His contract must be too hard or expensive to dislodge, which means they wrote a weak contract and are too proud to admit their mistakes (the contract, renewal and Foster's selection). Too late, there is a fire sale on AB aura but no one can be bothered to open the dumpster lid.
