@Tim based on what I have seen this year , my only lock in Blues starter for the ABs is Reiko ..
Clark and Telea, maybe one of them ,Papalii or Akira maybe in the 23
With Newall injured Tuangafasi maybe tighthead cover -

@mariner4life Which Blues will start for ABs?
Papalii, Ioane, Ioane, Clarke,
Barrett? Maybe Telea? You know BB is the starting FB
Clarke will start. Reiko will start.
That's 3 more starting backs then the Chiefs can boast
We'll have 3 starting forwards though I guess. Unless we revert to Taylor in which case it'll be 2.
-
@mariner4life Sounds good to me.

Because, as a harbour and Blues fan, you have grown to love failure
-
@mariner4life While they may have underperformed as teams in the domestic competitions, plenty of their players have still excelled in the ABs.
Not all solid Super Rugby battlers can be Auckland Legends.

Clarke and Rieko played well today.

Fiji Drua Women won the Super W Final v Reds.

I think it's good of the Blues and Canes to fight back against the negative nelly articles we've been reading this week.
Also, @mariner4life are you posting from the stands at magic round?

Josh Kemeny of the Melbourne Rebels was cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby Pacific match at the weekend. Kemeny was alleged to have contravened Law 9.13 ... A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.
"Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, including from the player and submissions from his legal representative, Tim North KC, the Foul Play Review Committee upheld the Citing under Law 9.13."
"With respect to sanction, the Foul Play Review Committee held the act of foul play was late and dangerous with direct and forceful contact made head-to-head. Whilst the player attempted to pull out of a late tackle, he was always high and there was no applicable mitigation. The FPRC found a high degree of danger and the conduct merited a mid-range entry point of 6 weeks.
Taking into account mitigating factors, including the Player's clear record, guilty plea and otherwise exemplary conduct, the Judicial Committee reduced the suspension by three weeks."
"The player is therefore suspended for 3 weeks, up to and including 26 May 2023.
Isaia Walker-Leawere free to play
The SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee reviewed the Red Card awarded to Isaia WalkerLeawere of the Hurricanes for contravening Law 9.29: If that player later commits another yellowcard offence, the player must be sent off.
“The Foul Play Review Committee applied Appendix 4 of World Rugby Regulation 17, noting that this is an area where judicial discretion is required. The Committee determined that at least one of the yellow cards was awarded for technical offences (not Foul Play) which did not involve a breach of Laws 9.11 to 9.28 and that exceptional circumstances therefore existed which warranted no further sanction being imposed. The Committee held that the red card received by the player was sufficient penalty in the circumstances and no further sanction was warranted. The red card remains on the player’s record."
"The player is therefore free to resume playing.” -
@Derpus I actually am reasonably surprised that viewer numbers are doing so well, I haven't seen any rating numbers from here or Aus, and not even sure where to look. If they are not great in Aus are they down all over, or still getting good numbers in ACT etc where team is doing well?

@KiwiMurph SRP was never going to be bad for NZ audiences. Shame about the other half I guess. Convenient he's left that part to other experts who, presumably, have more nuance.
There's a concerted media attack on the viability of Super Rugby in NZ, so of course this tweet is going to focus on NZ. It doesn't mean anyone is pretending Oz doesn't exist.
You're just looking for something to be annoyed about.

It's a good product. Aussie teams are definitely improving, I've watched Oz v Oz games for the first time in years.
More interestingly, there are different styles in play evolving. Everyone is not playing the same anymore.

@Kirwan Funnily enough probably least number of Oz derbies I have watched this year, usually watch them all but have tended to mainly just watch the main ones with Brumbies/Tahs/Rebels . More old age than anything, as after a day of club rugby and watching NZ games I find it a little tougher staying up for games tat finish around not far short of midnight.
