How good
at least 3 of them are currently injured?
lol 3 of them barely played on the weekend, while a 4th may have been on the field, but he wasn't doing much
still got injured:
Ioane Linsfranc fracture
Grace (shoulder?) again...
Marino Mikaele Tu'u rib injury
I've probably missed someone.. -

@nostrildamus Jordie came off looking a little off, I would say he might be played sparingly against the Rebels.

No need to risk Jordie this early in the season. Riley Higgins is more than capable slotting in at 12, the only downside with Love also out atm is we are left with Morgan as a goal kicker, unless obviously Godfrey starts.

Angus Bell is gone for the SRP season. A shame as he is good to watch.

Agree. But will Riley be fit and ready next week? I hope so. Otherwise we might see Proctor at 2nd and Savea at center. Unless Sullivan returns.

Yeah Riley was sitting in the stands on the weekend so I assume he's ready to go if called upon. I'd say he will definitely be in the 23 even if Jordie is fit.
Sullivan didn't travel going from some of the pictures I've seen on Facebook. He's a little bit of an unknown because the Hurricanes haven't disclosed what kind of injury he has.
You would start Savea at 12 anyway considering that's where he played last year for a game or two, no point playing two players out of position.

Maybe regarding Higgins. But we certainly won't know from Canes updates. At least the changes to the rules to speed it up has made a big improvement. Hope it continues But NZR need to look at other issues like keeping the fans more updated and involved. Starting with improved injury updates ... I'm becoming a stuck record on this issue
and makes sense re Savea. (Although Proctor also played 2nd for 3 game last year.) edit Savea was 2nd 5 against the Blues last year.

I've a got a mate that's become the new Highlanders photographer/videographer/social media guru and he's upped the coverage of their channels massively. They have the most creative posts, and he is always posting injury updates on their stories which is highly engaging for the fans.
I guess it all stems down to how active the person running those channels wants to be.

Thats the key I think. Shame Highlanders started off so poorly though

@Canes4life my algorithms must be wonky...havent noticed a huge uptick in social media stuff
A suggestion next time youre talking to him (if you want), the highlanders could share the Matatu posts, at least the score updates etc, i notice the other franchises obviously post their womens teams....the Highlanders should get behind Matatu

Follow their stories on Instagram, the Highlanders are very active on there. He took a video in the locker room pre match on Saturday shaking hands with the boys before they ran out. It's that first person content you don't see from many other franchises.

@Canes4life i do, when ever they come up, possibly more damning of the other franchises than anything, i would still say i see more from the sydney swans (still pre season) of my football team wimbledon

The Swans probably have more money and more than one content creator. The quality of content has definitely improved if you compare even the infeed posts to last year. From what I've seen, the Landers are definitely doing a better job than the Canes when it comes to providing information to their fans.
The cap ceremony for Taine Randall and Nasi Manu for example is content you wouldn’t usually see from most teams:

The problem with stories is that they disappear after a while. Forget to check insta stories just for 24 hours and you may have missed a lot of info. They're (generally) over-used IMO.

Working in Digital Marketing, you usually get a lot more engagement posting in stories / reels vs in-feed promotion and it's a lot easier to post on the fly instead of creating a post every time you want to showcase content, so I understand why content creators prefer that method even though content disappears after 24 hours. Most of the time story content is irrelevant after 24 hours anyway, it's more used to keep users up-to-date about what's happening in the moment.
In reference to the video above, the Highlanders posted that across all touch-points on Instagram (in-feed, reels and stories) because of the nature of that content. Whereas if it's just an injury update to one player then you probably wouldn't create a whole post about it.

@Canes4life It would be good if they shared more on twitter, too. They don't even post team line-ups there. Same complaint about the Canes btw.
