When you look at the volume of 'stuff' the Police have done in the most recent month of stats alone, and when the cases of alleged corruption/stitch ups/FUBAR's going back to David Tamahere get listed across 2 - 3 posts on TSF...

... On the whole, you might even say they do a reasonable and 99.9999% trustworthy job..........

That wasn't a very long list of fuckups from them and some of them were very debatable [I'd still like to know what Sammy was meaning about the terror raids.] they are only human though and because of that there are varying degrees of fuckups from them occasionally . Having said that I wouldn't want to be one [they probably have all sorts of processes to ensure someone like me can never be one] nor would I be too keen on my son being a cop either.
-

People die from being shot in the leg regularly, usually from bleeding to death. It's hardly a low-risk option. My personal opinion is that people who don't want to get shot shouldn't threaten police with weapons.

Yup. As explained to me by a paramedic in a research binge, you get the femoral artery running up the inner thigh and it's gonna be all over pretty fucking quickly. A shot to the leg is not a low risk option nor is viable or sensible within a violent, adrenaline hyped moving target.
-
This guys family should count their blessings they are in NZ. When I first heard of the siege and that cops had been shot, I assumed he had hostages. When I found out he didn't my first thought was "if this was in the US this guy would have been dead within an hour". Instead our boys in blue endured a 23+ hour stand off to ensure a peaceful end to spare this fuck tard his life.

Cops are human so there will always be mistakes and the odd bad egg, but I really don't think we have much to complain about in NZ. -

I guess it all depends on the definition of corruption. Is letting a cute chick off a ticket corrupt? What about not breath testing a colleague? Or giving work mates a blue light taxi? Faking RBT stats. Fudging the daily logs to make it look like you have been busier than you really have? Writing off a minor investigation as not being in the public interest when the real reason is you just can't be bothered attending to something so minor? I could go on.

Thank fuck I have never seen or done any of these things!
-

Some would say that corruption is like pregnancy - you can't be a little bit pregnant. However I cannot see how or where such a line could feasibly be drawn. The daily ins and outs of police work cannot allow for everything to be done wholly and completely within a zero tolerance framework. I guess where the line gets drawn is a personal thing both for the accuser and the individual police officer.

-

One of the things that pisses me off about people bleating & whining about "big brother" is people bitch on about the cops not being inhuman machines who never screw up, but put a speed camera up or suggest compulsory black box tech in cars, or god forbid CCTV & people lose their shit about the invasion of their privacy.

Make a call people. Either we have humans police us, with all their human faults & we just accept that shit - and maybe that we need to pay & respect them if we want them to do their jobs well and attract the better quality candidates - and not act like its the fucking apocalpyse if a rogue one pockets half a key of blow.

Or we stick a chip in our arse that tracks us everywhere & we do DNA swipes at birth.
-

Thats what happened some years ago, some low life tried to steal a farmer from up norths machinery. He chased him off and shot in the ass/upper leg area. The fuckwit continued running and eventually bleed out before he could be found.

The farmer was prosecuted from memory, due to pc bullshit. In the States it wouldnt have been an issue.
-

It doesn't take long to bleed out from there, the femoral is almost the size of a garden hose .

Clearly its all just a misunderstanding, he didnt shoot at the cops in the air. I think we have established that came from a nearby shooting range....

And when he was confronted by the 4 policemen he feared for his life, due to them being white and the likely hood they were going to plant drugs all over his property.

But actually what happened was as he handed over his gun(s) they accidentally misfired. Just like with that ex Eagles dude and his unlucky wife.

I fully expect justice to be done and this guy will be back home by Monday so he can be free to contribute to his loving family and community.
-

OMFG. No wonder that piece of shit is how he is. Obviously he was raised with massive self-entitlement, no respect for the law or consequences. If someone is SHOOTING PEOPLE, does that fucktard woman think the police will go, yep, lets sing Kumbaya and let the whanau do their thing??

cant recall if this has been posted already....hopefully it is an emergency when he shuts the door on a white cop.

Actually I think it's awesome that he would slam the door in a white cops face, then he get his door kicked in, himself slammed facedown into the ground and if I was the cop involved a taste of my pepper spray as well.

Fuckwits like him and that fat munter in thd video live in their own weird little universe , unfortunately reality tends to treat them very harshly. -

Oddly enough the Stephen Wallace case is back in the spotlight http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/wellington/77731607/new-case-over-police-shooting-of-steven-wallace-in-waitara-in-2000

They want us to pay for another appeal, they've already cost him his job and marriage.

Rachel Smalley summed up the mentality of these ferals quite well I thought,

The siege situation in the Bay of Plenty - wasn't it interesting watching that play out?

Somehow, as the alleged gunman remained barricaded inside a house, somehow he became the victim.

Four policemen were shot -- four people who, as part of our police force, we task with upholding peace and justice in this country.

I can only imagine the anguish for their families, potentially their children, their parents, their siblings and partners. They got up that day, they went to work, and four were shot.

What were they doing?

I understand they were searching for cannabis plants -- so, investigating the possibility of some illegal activity at the property.

And then they heard the sound of a shotgun discharging. The alleged gunman remained in the house -- and then his family arrived on the side of the road.

His concerned mother said she feared her son would be carried out of the house in a box. The extended family said police needed to involve whanau in negotiations. The man's mother said police had -- quote -- a "preconceived outcome".

And suddenly, just like that, the man who's alleged to have shot four policemen, he somehow became the victim in this.

How did that happen? How did he become the victim? Where was the extended family's empathy or compassion for the four police who'd been shot?

MORE: Alleged gunman's mother: We still love our son

In the first instance, I would think you would decry what had happened that day. You would express your concern and sympathy for the wounded -- but instead the alleged gunman's mother accused police of having -- quote -- a "preconceived outcome".

If you raise a rifle and fire bullets at four policemen, I would suggest you also had a "preconceived outcome".

There was no accountability from the family. No compassion for the true victims. And a complete lack of empathy for the four people -- who also have mothers -- who had been shot. And that perhaps, is at the core of this issue.

What happens to children who are raised in an environment devoid of empathy? What do they become when they grow up?

If you are raised without empathy, if you are raised by parents or caregivers who can emotionally dissociate from the suffering of others, if you are raised in an environment where you can view the suffering of others without feeling a sense of distress yourself, then you, yourself, will never develop empathy.

You will become a morally and emotionally bankrupt adult.

And you will always, always see yourself as the victim.
-

The real issue isn't what the mum and co are saying, it's that we take any notice of it...or get fed it by shitstirring media

We've established that we all have the right to voice opinions, the next step is to choose to ignore or reflect on them.

Don't let this shit rile you, in all seriousness it's not far off writing a story or having a gripe because you didn't like the message a horse was neighing or a sheep was baaing.

I mean who takes a horse's opinion on board, let alone a horses arse. :i_am_so_happy:

Writing an article based on that verbal dross is only a few notches off actually saying it.

Rachel Smalley is simply lifting the dunny lid and saying "look, shit". Way to promote what you're writing against you supercilious bint :idiot2:
-

You make some good points there.

The problem for me is every time one of the ferals is either killed by a cop or shoots a cop his whanau immediately come out of the woodwork and claim that their relative is the real victim, we saw it with Wallace, Molenaar and now this latest cretin. I'm no fan of Smalley but she's bang on here and I agree with you that the media should be ignoring the family , if they aren't people like Smalley should be commended for not towing the line and pointing out the shooter and his family are human garbage who shouldn't be treated with any respect.

Also, wtf ? This guy was outside national police headquarters yesterday.

What a numpty... The fact that the police tolerated his presence suggests that they may not be as fascist or evil as some dipshits claim...
