So we don't derail the Highlanders thread...

Absolutely. Youβd think the Chiefs would have offered him two years last year though.
Yes. I could understand the initial 1-yr contract when Lowe moved from the Hurricanes, but a more sensible 2 or 3-yr contract from 2022 seemed appropriate.
Something is going a bit wrong with the back selections at the Chiefs. Is it Randle who is the problem?
Questions need to be asked about the performance/selection of the backs, and that includes Hill.

Excellent point about Hill as well - whoever is in charge of attack needs a huge kick in the ass.

Randle is listed as the attack coach and Hill an assistant coach. Hill, likely responsible for the inside backs and kicking.
I wonder about their contract status. Both should be nervous.
Those two and McMillan are tight, as he uses them as assistants for the MΔori ABs too.

On paper they took the team to - a terrible Tupaea pass and PGS being an idiot - a win away from making the final. That probably looks good on paper. (Not saying I agree but I can see them getting leeway for it).

That's fair actually.
Adding Dmac back and we should solidify our spot as the third best NZ side, which is probably about right given the talent available (and available to sign).

All jokes aside, at Super level, George Bridge would be an instant and significant upgrade on all of our outside backs.
I think he would make an excellent Super fullback. He's not slow, and he's actually a very good link player.
However if the game plan is throw it to Bridgey and wait for the magic then yeah, it won't go well.

I actually agree and think I'd prefer him rather at NPC level than who we just inherited off you blokes. Bridge would have been steady, instead we now have Tiatia who's as likely to be a match winner or match loser.

I buy into that as long as it meant DMac at 10 and we found some wingers that could make breaks/beat a man with power or speed.
He would actually make a decent Super level 15 (although I really can't remember his kicking abilities). He does read games well and has a good basic skillset. Just couldn't break his way through 1 ply toilet paper.

No thanks. I said "suitable replacement", not safe, slow white boy.
We do already have Trask. (Bridge would actually be an upgrade)

Slow but not safe, I think you'll find.
