The Canes Facebook posts are pretty interesting now.
Normally it's a bunch of "Go hard Canes!!!" type posts but those are in the minority now. Mostly fans rightly ranting about the selections.
Wonder if they read it.
I very seldom venture over to Facebook but did out of interest after your post. Good God it is almost as if TSF members have hit the Canes Facebook page en masse offering excellent suggestions to the coaching staff. Frankly I am surprised they have not deleted all the helpful suggestions but even the Canes fish heads must know that the populace is not dumb and they cannot hide from the general angst and fury that is out there, nor try to pretend that there isn't any. To try and deny it would further enhance their ineptness rankings amongst the Hurricanes followers, be they former or those still hanging in there out of loyalty.

@higgins I'm happy to see it. The NZ rugby media is a circlejerk who don't want to hold coaches / players to account. At least the fans can now do it in public.
How often do we get the coaches on the Breakdown and other shows and it's just a bunch of wanky questions or jokes?
Have heard Canes are deleting some of the posts on Insta. Probably get to Facebook next. Sad state of affairs.

They could give the fans a bit more information as to the reasoning though. Not that the coach should pander to the supporters but at least give some reasons so that the judgement is on those and not on something made up or just name calling.

Why not, many of us have seen thousands more games than a lot of those highly paid professionals and we also do not need to refer to a computer to evaluate a players performance after or during a match, Nor are we incapable of twigging whether game plans are working or not and we know what changes or variations are needed to overcome opposition game plans. And all that whilst sitting there watching the proceedings with our own eye and without the help of a coaches box full of supposedly helpful and well paid advisors, be they human or robotic computers.

@chris Wow I don’t think there’s enough ABs in that team as much as I bleed yellow and black I have no faith in the Hollandgoround and his selections Saders by at least 12.
It will be interesting who gets selected for the Canes, put the best team on the park and its a real fight.
But Holland leaves half your better players in the stand at times.Hopefully even that moron Holland will select our best 15 available for this one - crucial we start winning some matches in a row too, will be embarrassing if we miss out on the top 8 in the play-offs.
I really don't think he has any clue what our best 15 is.
Yeah, he's really clueless, if the players know Holland is going to coach the Canes next season reckon a fair few of them will leave at the end of this years comp... a coach has to earn the respect of the players, can't see any of the players having much respect for him.

Well I can, J. Garden-Bachop, R. Prinsep, A. Fidow, B. Proctor, J. Blackwell, B. Gibson, D. Bird, T. Lomax would be on the Board of Directors of the Jason Holland Appreciation Society. I am unsure about which side of the fence P. Patafilo sits as he never actually plays.

I think most Canes (and NZ rugby fans) like JB at 12.
But what irks Canes fans is that Holland took 5 games to decide this, and he has dropped (completely out of the 23) a really good 12 to allow for it.
We also don't have a 15 other than JB of any real quality where as PUJ is an excellent 12. So PUJ at 12 and JB at 15 is better based on the current Canes squad.
If JB has to be at 12, then at least put PUJ at 13.
Hopefully Moorby goes okay at 15 as Love ain't good there. Needs to be at 10.

Good to see Barrett get another crack at 12. Say what you like about Holland but he's the first coach to select Barrett in what I believe is his best position since he debuted in the NPC for Canterbury. I've been suggesting this for years.
I wouldn't give Holland credit in this regard. He has put Jordie there as about 7th or 8th attempt from his squad. FFS he even played Julian Savea there before him.

Yep. From a non Canes pov seeing how JB goes at 12 is a bonus. Judging him based on school rugby and a handful of NPC games in a weak comp is hardly a good indicator. Ardie was a great 12 at school.
If he doesn't set the world on fire there and plays out the season at 12 how does that work for the ABs? I'd then be tempted to play Jordan with JB on the bench. From a Canes pov it should be about balancing and best use of resources. I also have a concern about JBs 'rugby smarts'. He's never come across as the smartest bloke on the paddock.

It is noted that it has taken him a season and a half to do so.

Holland started Jordie at 12 in 2019 for a game too. Obviously Laumape was around but I think they could have given Jordie more opportunities at 12 over the years.

@old-samurai-jack Getting low enough for head on tackles. Could put at risk of penalty/card for a high shot.

Anyone worry that Barrett's height might be a defensive disadvantage at 12?
Interesting point with the lower tackle height requirements.
He's the height of a lock and they dont have issues close in. In the open it hasnt been an issue either but yeah, at 12 there are sometimes those middle ground issues of wanting to wrap the ball up but having less time to adjust.
Doesn't look like a problem for him.
