@stargazer wow that’s incredible..and yet they have played with a great amount of heart ..I think what gets lost on a lot of people , this is only their 4th ever game in their history ..
They’ve been a really good addition, I think its really pleasing to see how good they are.
They're also a different type of team. Although a lot of their players have come through NZ, they've got their own way of playing.

Bit mystified why Taumateine not given more time by MP. Great to see McRobbie with 80 minutes though. Tavatavanawai and Kata looked good.
But Auckland forwards too dominant. Tucker Eklund Dalton and Hodgman all very good. Zarn and Perofeta are great to watch too. -
@gt12 they have been far more competitive than I thought they would ever have been ..i spoke to Dale McLeod during the week and he told me that many of these boys have apart from a handful have never experienced full time professional environments pertaining to many aspects including everyday training , eating correctly and more importantly being supported as individuals…
He actually said many of these boys who have been part of NPC squads have felt on the outer and being part of MP they have been far more inclusive..
Dale reckoned it’s the best environment he’s ever been part of , they only problem they have now is the number of pacific island players wanting to be part of this and of course the NZ franchises that are already expressing interest in some of their current players . -

Rucks have been a mess tonight.
An understatement!
Doleman was so inconsistent with allowing players to win the ball while off their feet (or not), and the Blues got away with taking out MP players well in front of the ruck a few times. The Segner one near the MP goal line was comical.

@kiwimurph hard to believe he’s 30 ,I remember him running around for Varsity several years ago ..

Which other teams play MP twice. Really getting an advantage in the comp.
The Blues have played MP and the Highlanders twice so far. A tougher end to the NZ part of the comp is coming up.

I first remember him from that famous Kelston vs Grammar 1st XV fight. There were quite a few future pros involved in that fight.
I also remember joining this board around that time.

@stargazer man that’s tough , on saying that I suspect these guys will just roll their sleeves up and get on with it .

@hydro11 Remember, this is also the MP 3rd string team. They have an awfully long list of unavailable players.
3rd string is a bit far isn't it? Blues are missing RTS and Beaudy as well.
Unavailable for selection: Xavier Cowley-Tuioti, Jack Lam, Josh Kaifa, Isi Tu’ungafasi, Lotu Inisi, Don Lolo, D’Angelo Leuila, Niko Jones, Levi Aumua, Danny Toala, Henry Taefu, Taukiaha’amea Koloamtangi, Lolagi Visinia, Manu Paea, Jonathan Taumateine, Samuel Slade, Neria Foma’i, Tima Fainga’anuku, Ray Niuia
Added today: Curry and Tuitavuki.
I honestly don't think any of those players would make a substantial difference.
Geez I think Toala, Aumua and Visinia would of all added a lot. But it's what it is.

Was impressed with Christie today. Very solid, quick to the ruck and fast distribution. Not too showy, just really effective.

Think both teams can take a lot out of that game. The Blues are building an incredible amount of depth and MP are going to be a strong side in a season or 2. They just keep on going despite their tough schedule.
Leon MacDonald will have some tough choices to make for next weeks game.
