Moana Pasifika v Blues

Nepo will probably only get 3 weeks for that red card (6 weeks minus the 50% reduction). If his last red card had been more recent, it would be at least 4 weeks, but I don't think they go back further than 1 year. He got a yellow card against Wales, last year, for a shoulder against the head (which should or should not have been a red, I can't remember), but I don't know whether they take a yellow into account when determining the suspension.

Would like to see Cory Evans partner Reiko Ioane on the weekend , for me having watched Corey come through the grades he’s actually got a rugby brain and a superb skill set ..so good on his feet

A good game considering two B teams short turnaround.
Probably the best game i've seen Segner play.
Man I get rubbished for saying I like Segner, but I have been raving a bit about him since I saw him with NZ schoolboys, and I will keep saying he has got a lot to like with the way he plays. Have seen him play a few ripper!
-
@steven-harris Yes he certainly did. He ran the MP forwards around and got us quick ball when we needed it.
Quite happy to get the win there when we were under a lot of pressure. We managed to keep our composure with a young squad out there and a man down. Segner was brilliant out there, as was Romano and I thought Corey Evans looked decent when he came on.
Credit to Moana Pasifika as well, brilliant comeback from them, clearly showing that they belong in this comp just 4 games in. They could be an outside chance of a top 8 side.

@african-monkey well said , pleasantly surprised with MP especially after that big preseason loss to the Chiefs ..one things for sure , you can’t take them lightly because you know you will be in a physical contest ..
Hopefully in the future this will turn into a great crosstown rivalry -
@steven-harris Will be interesting that's for sure. On a personal level, I'll always be a Blues fan first and foremost, but being Samoan, I do also support MP and have a membership for both sides. I think a lot will support both (like myself), but I do hope that MP can get a massive following as PI rugby has been waiting a long time for a professional side.

Are these players ever going to learn? Seriously?
He seemed bemused too, like he couldn't believe his actions there would be deemed a problem.
Yeah, standing there shaking his head - but this is the reaction we're going to get when half the time fans jump all over WR/Refs and say they've ruined the game. How often have we seen that recently and it goes on for days/weeks, without mention of the player? Laulala will probably get a ban, but other than reporting on that, there'll be next to nothing written about him being a grub.

I can't remember hearing the commentators saying it, but why were there so many changes to the MP line-up compared to the squad that was named? Taefu, Niuia and Paea ruled out, last minute. Covid? Injuries?
Think I heard them talk about covid still having an affect on team availability.

Well put AM, that is what I think most hoped would happen , no reason we can't support 2 teams. I have to admit as a Canes man, with no Island blood or connection I can't help cheering for MP, because I see so many positives with them!

For med that was a full red card, not a twenty minuter. There was no mitigation, it was totally intended. We so need an orange card, and that was a red

In fairness, you also see it in the randomness of the judiciary when the French fullback Fall gets carded, and then the judciary overturn it; and more recently Tom Banks. Randomness leads to frustration, and no one knows where the line is.
And past all that, it was stupid play from Laulala that deserved a straight red. How did the officials miss it in realtime?

I thought that Laulala was very lucky to get away with his clean-out on Lam given where he connected. Poor technique on both occasions.
One of the MP players got stripped and came screaming across to a ruck shoulder first and sideways. Didn't connect I don't think, but it amazes me that pro players get that red mist.
Personally, I'd be happy with absolutely all incidents being picked up - either after the game, or maybe during. Players must know the rules, and keep pushing the risk/reward envelope to clearly show the risk.

This article confirms that the late withdrawals were due to covid.

Tuitavuki I think it was, and it was so obvious in real-time. Romano got away with a high tackle in the 2nd half too, so plenty was missed by the officials.
