Crusaders v Chiefs

Hope BBBR can wind back the clock to the days that he and Messam used to get in the Saders heads
-
Outside of Jack Goodhue’s ongoing unavailability (he’s due back from his knee injury late April), and questions regarding prop Oli Jager (calf), Ryan confirmed they had a healthy squad

He could try his new trick of "reverse gear when getting tackled".

@mariner4life Nah.... struggling to see where Crusaders have any dominance. Certainly not in the tight 5, definitely not in the midfield or loosies..... Coaching is good on both sides.... Nope! Chiefs definitely take this one!
In all seriousness, I think the Chiefs are the team to beat. I dislike their supporters esp. on the fern, complete tossers, but reckon they are the team to beat and will comprehensively beat the Blues if they meet again. -
@old-samurai-jack The Crusaders have won 5 titles in a row and somehow the Chiefs are the team to beat?
-
Lol how are the Chiefs the team to beat? The Crusaders have made a perfect start to the year, whereas the Chiefs let a win slip against the Blues, plus they have Tiatia at fullback.

Your All Black laden team with the bestest coach ever, and his incredible systems should have this as a doddle. Crusaders by a thousand.

It’s good to see wome honest apraisal from a Chiefs fan for once

Saders are $1.25 favs with Sportsbet, but what would they know

teh line is set at 7.5
and SB have every single Crusaders winning margin set less than the Chiefs just to win

so we're going to fucken ruin them by backing the Chiefs hard, yeah?
Yeah???

@old-samurai-jack
I wish this was true. As crusaders winning every year (and crap Aussie teams) is not great for SRP. Sadly it's not -

Again, no Jonah Lowe?
-
It's only the Crusaders.
Plenty of rotation in the first 3 games. I'm looking forward to seeing Dyer in action.
-
@bovidae It's just plain weird. You'd think they'd play their best 23 against the Crusaders. Lowe is miles better than Stevenson on the wing. Weber not in the squad either. Two debutants. They might as well give Thompson a run, too.
-
-
I wonder if there is covid in the squad.
-
They play again in 2 weeks so I hope the Chiefs put out their strongest team at home.
Maybe there are some covid cases too?
-
Bruh where's Ioane?

This is where you see the loss of McKenzie.

The battles at hooker, lock and midfield should be good.
On paper that Crusaders team looks far too strong.
-
Matera has been pretty average so far. Hard to see how such a has-been justifies a place in NZ's most talent laden squad.

I thought he had an Awesome game at no.8 v MP he was awarded the players MVP.
He made a lot of metres and made a lot of tackles.
I think because he doesn't make big flashy runs on the edges,he doesn't take people eye.Watching the Games a second time he does a shit load of Tight work. -
@kiwimurph Would make sense with some of the guys not there.
-
@tim said in Crusaders v Chiefs:
@chris Thought he got caught out on defense, and got smashed several times as a ball carrier, including conceding a try. Could not disagree more, he was shite against the NPC also
We see it differently then,
-
I would have preferred Grace getting the start at 8, and Matera on the bench because he can cover all three backrow positions and because Grace is an All Blacks prospect who needs the starts.

they will get rotated a bit with 5 big games in a row v NZ sides.
-
Speaking as a diehard Chiefs fan who always backing the lads no matter what, I think we're gonna get rolled idk.
-
Chiefs forwards should be on top. 9 and 10 a disadvantage.
-
One of the most interesting results of the last few years was the rapid elevation of Cullen Grace to the ABs.
There was all this talk about how he had the hardest shoulders, he was so fucking tough, maybe he was the 10th time that him or someone like him had been talked as the new Richie McCaw.
The Crusaders PR engine was firing on all cylinders.
Now he can't compete with on holiday has-been Pablo Matera.
Perhaps the Crusaders pipeline has hit a fault that even TJ can't obscure.
-
Looking at those teams, I have to scale back my Chiefs claims of being the team to beat. That Crusaders team looks rather strong.
On Grace, I thought he was playing quite well. He still needs to get more abrasive in contact but has been very busy and accurate. -

Agree. Looking better than last year so far. I wonder if he has struggled playing 8 rather than 6? He seems a more natural 6 to me.
-
Grace has been injured for most of 2021. Shoulder injury IIRC.

There is either Covid in the squad or they've given up on this game. That's a squad to run out against MP.
-
Happy the Chiefs are rotating to give all squad members a good shot now compared to the Crusaders strategy of playing best players more. May balance out the odds in their coming tough matches. Keen to see Dyer Reihana and Ratima play. Wish they would try Thompson on bench too.
