Rotten race from Lawson. Easily overtaken and poor race strategy. Yuki showing how it’s done.

He didn't even fight. Are his tires fucked?

I have no idea what they were doing with his stops. Why tf did they wait until lap 39 of 50 to give him fresh rubber? He finished the race with perfectly good tyres on it. Might have been understandable if they had put another set of mediums on that would have been gone in 12 or so. Was like they forgot about it. Just weird.

    Anyone explain that?

Think they planned a one stop race but then he started getting overtaken easily by every man and his dog so they realised he needed new tires. Don’t know why they didn’t put mediums on though.

You have limited sets of tyres, could be something to do with that

Thanks guys. Calling it a "low percentage play" is polite, it was a complete cock up. Obvious after the first stint that a one stop was never going to work and they a had a clue about the medium's longevity when Perez (I think) chewed them out after the first dozen or so laps.

I thought that the coms had said he had a medium set left? Even that would have made more sense for the last stint but maybe they had it wrong (or I did) and as you say @Machpants, all they had left was the hards. That actually makes the planning even worse though, doing 27ish of the 39ish they had to do on one set, and 11 on the other is just plain dumb. Sure, a few laps either way of half for an under or over cut, or some clear air / track position, but finishing with really good rubber is a real waste. Hope it doesn't cost Lawson too dearly...not that he was going that well anyway.

@Snowy sounds like the car wasn't great all weekend. They admit it in the article. Apparently he was trying hard to keep it out of the wall

Yeah, I gathered that and yet Yuki went well. Just a bad weekend all round from setup to strategy. Bad time to have one of those.

Despite what is written in the media, the teams have the telemetry, and know who is getting the best out of their cars. So if he is good enough, regardless of results, they know

An absolute mare of a start saw Lawson drop from 10 to 17. Saving grace: Perez finished dead last in 20th.

RB race pace was slow all weekend. Tsunoda 13th, Lawson 14th (15 cars finished). The sprint was Lawson 16th, Tsunoda 17th. Not much either can do when the pace wasn’t there

Max calling the stewards idiots for penalising him for doing his usual corner using the other car as a buffer and fuck the other driver's race.

He was in eighth place at the time. Sounds like he drove a good race

Lawson has done an ok job. Not bad, but not clearly superior to Tsunoda.

I think he needs a full season in RB to show his stuff properly. He doesn’t look like Red Bull quality. Yet.

Rumour mill of Bottas to Red Bull has quieted down, I thought that made a lot of sense. So who knows, fingers crossed for him.

Hadn't even heard that, only heard he's likely off to Mercedes.

Yeah that’s where it is now. A few weeks ago there was talk.

Be nice if he can stay in f1. Good driver to watch.
