Rugby Coverage/Streaming

Thought I'd start a new topic as the last one was rugbypass.
Anyone signed up for this yet?
I'm interested, but if they're gonna try and charge me 50 squid and not give a great deal of info on what I'm actually getting and how, afuckthat.
Rugbypass last year was pretty shit, so not sure I can be bothered to fork out for that quality and faff especially when the games are bloody being played under lockdown.
Might just use another source across the Ta$man and download a couple of games a week to watch without buffering...

@bones I was going to suggest Noe TV but I see they want £35 a month. (plus I'm not sure if Sky are even showing it)
Yeah that's why I started the thread, I'm not trying to make my life difficult! Sky don't have it.

They are killing Super Rugby as a brand over here with all the streaming stuff and no main TV.
Only people who are very invested will watch.
I haven't paid £50 for it and now that I have missed games not sure I will. Ultimately, I have 3 kids so hit or miss how much rugby I can watch and when it was on sky we would tune in on Saturday mornings have it on in the background but streaming to my TV always throws up issues and is just a shit experience which again only those who are really invested will do.
The biggest issue though...
All those who used to stumble across it on sky and enjoy it and build familiarity and brand will just never see it or engage with it now. Super rugby awareness has fallen off a cliff over here and not having proper broadcast is a big part of that.
Anyway, rant over but sad to see some of this stuff where only really hard-core watch and casual fans essentially ignored. I care about the competition and had to hunt how to watch, very few will do that.

@davesofthunder I think having SA in as well probably added to that, with Friday evening and Saturday afternoon games, as well as the odd Sunday.
I just sourced the games on Morning and watched them delayed. Great picture, no buffering and free...
Anyone tried sanzaarrugby? I'll buy it if it's decent, but not if it's as shit as last year.

I find watching games I know the score for already a but annoying in truth. Highlights are good though.
Ultimately the not recognising players is a big part of the problem. There is no profile for SH rugby over here anymore unless you are prepared to hunt it out.
It used to be that plenty of NH fans would watch at breakfast on a Saturday and it builds familiarity and pulls people in.
You need that for commercial success in the longterm and it is slowly being pissed away.
Sad, as something I loved and looked forward to is slowly being killed off.
Losing SA has been a blow too I think and cannot be underplayed.

I didn’t know most of the players snd it felt very soul less without crowds.
A lot of them are the same players from previous years?

Honestly, it has got harder to be a casual SH rugby fan in the UK over the last couple of years so no suprise if familiarity is getting lower.
You have to channel / stream hop to watch the All Blacks let alone super / provincial rugby.
I certainly feel waaay more disconnected than ever and not because I want to be
-
@davesofthunder oh I'm with you there. I wouldn't consider myself casual and they're doing everything perfectly right to make me just forget about it. The casual fan has no chance.
Would ditch sky sport too but....F1...

Yeah, I should caveat that I didn't buy it last year either but decided I wanted to this year.
Reality is that most of the demand here was likely from expat Saffa's. So with no SA teams in it, it's unlikely that the viewers would see the likes of Sky have any interest in taking it up.
The free highlights on YT will do it for me.

Yeah, but that's not important right now.

@majorrage yeah I felt I was supporting NZR last year while they tried their best to get us some rugby. This year... not so much...I feel they're doing almost the opposite and it seems absurd with the centralised location and no fans allowed.

it is always so damn early. Sitting outside, 28 degrees today, and I can't get my head into a winter sport yet. I'm old fashioned like that.

@Victor-Meldrew are you using the sanzaarugby site? Is it decent?
