@mariner4life yeah this really is the ambulance stuck on a ledge halfway down the cliff!
Needs to be some work done with players, coaches, refs as well as plenty of rules or interpretations need work to reduce the number of cards.
Only need to look at the ass of humanity that is social media to see all the calls for more cards! Man, imagine if Mealamu & Tana had tried to murder BoD in the age of social media!!
that really depends on the direction of the card. I saw much much less after test 3 than i did after, say, test 1 and 2?

Vast majority of these RCs are 'foul play' due to being adjudged as reckless. That should be a difficult judgement to make from short slo-mo clips shown on stadium screens.
I would be more than happy for YCs and a judiciary appearance (on report) in these cases.
In no way does that mean acceptance of poor technique (which is what they are trying to achieve). Maybe the addition of fines (proceeds to player welfare organisations) would ensure more corporate adherence to the principles of risk reduced technique via coaching. -

@Bovidae pity SA don't play the game later. 5-7am would just mean up early. But 3-5am is too early and too late
Yuck. I only just realised that. Back to the old days of cheese toasties and milo in the early hours.
-
@Crucial or like in real life, you have to attend driver training or anger management or similar to limit your sentence, have a coaching and/or tackling technique course players must attend post receiving a card for such incidents.

Yeah, that time sucks. I was leaning towards watching a replay for the first time that I can remember, but the coaching changes have renewed my interest. I'll wait to see what team is selected and then decide.

It couldn't be a worse time for nzers. And so easy to make it a lot better.

Also can we stop asking Owens to have a say in anything because he occasionally said funny stuff while reffing?
Welshophobe.
17 years reffing experience, common sense suggestions that would help improve the ABs chances, what is not to love? -

i can't remember the last time i watched an over-night game live. On demand replays when i wake up is perfect thanks

@Tim as much as i fucking haaaaate the current framework
this is a dumb ass decision that only negatively affects the teams involved in the long run. This is never going ahead in the rest of the rugby world (where there appears to be zero appetite) so why play at all under these conditions?
Also can we stop asking Owens to have a say in anything because he occasionally said funny stuff while reffing?
That was my initial reaction but actually I don't care. I'd rather just watch a fair contest.
Ireland and NZ basically committed the same amount of red card offences in their series so it's hard to argue that Ireland are "better" behaved/conditioned than NZ anyway.
The more often we play under these variations maybe the NH brainiacs will come around to them.

Used to be a must , I had to watch them live , I think it was because as a kid the old man would wake me up and it became a tradition thing you just had to do ,
But yeah cant be fucked now either , I think the last time was the 2015 WC .

There is still something about getting up or staying up to watch a test match live from SA or Europe. No way I ever did that for SR games from SA though. Midnight SR kickoffs from Perth might as well not exist for me either.
I think one of the few times I couldn't watch a test live was when I was flying from LAX to Auckland (NZ vs SA in Dunedin). I did ask the crew for a final score though.

It’s done
Move on
Why? There’s two very valid views on this. Does one get to come out on top just because ? Even if the other sees it as detrimental?

That’s funny. We’re still part of WR yet….?
It was a trial. The Law Review Group wanted the trial to go worldwide but those that haven’t even tried it shut that idea down. So the trial continues despite the luddites
