Rugby Championship 2022

@Machpants Indeed, that table on the official website is awful. Amateurs!
Just in case it still needs clarification, both tests beween NZ and Australia are part of the RC, and both are for the Bledisloe Cup.
It's correct that they've reduced the number of Bledisloe Cup tests from three to two though.

@Tim as much as i fucking haaaaate the current framework
this is a dumb ass decision that only negatively affects the teams involved in the long run. This is never going ahead in the rest of the rugby world (where there appears to be zero appetite) so why play at all under these conditions?
Also can we stop asking Owens to have a say in anything because he occasionally said funny stuff while reffing?

Homophobe.

Its a sad reflection that it is not seen as a positive move elsewhere, but I agree unless it garners a genuine chance of implementation elsewhere, I think its pointless playing under these rules.
If management deemed that is was seen that we needed to adapt better to the full card scenarios then this also doesn't help force change in some areas because you can potentially cope for twenty minutes

you can potentially cope for twenty minutes
it definitely changes your risk profiles anyway

The NH logic doesn't stand up.
Does a 'full' RC in the 61st minute therefore not carry enough deterrent? Therefore are players likely to be more deliberately reckless at that point in the game?
If 20 minutes off isn't enough deterrent then it isn't enough under either of these frameworks. -
@mariner4life yeah this really is the ambulance stuck on a ledge halfway down the cliff!
Needs to be some work done with players, coaches, refs as well as plenty of rules or interpretations need work to reduce the number of cards.
Only need to look at the ass of humanity that is social media to see all the calls for more cards! Man, imagine if Mealamu & Tana had tried to murder BoD in the age of social media!!

Agreed. We become more accepting of actions that can lead to RCs. That's not going to help us outside of this comp.

that really depends on the direction of the card. I saw much much less after test 3 than i did after, say, test 1 and 2?

Vast majority of these RCs are 'foul play' due to being adjudged as reckless. That should be a difficult judgement to make from short slo-mo clips shown on stadium screens.
I would be more than happy for YCs and a judiciary appearance (on report) in these cases.
In no way does that mean acceptance of poor technique (which is what they are trying to achieve). Maybe the addition of fines (proceeds to player welfare organisations) would ensure more corporate adherence to the principles of risk reduced technique via coaching. -

@Bovidae pity SA don't play the game later. 5-7am would just mean up early. But 3-5am is too early and too late
Yuck. I only just realised that. Back to the old days of cheese toasties and milo in the early hours.
