    Jona Nareki?

    Nareki, not this year

All Blacks prospect Jona Nareki set for lengthy sideline stint

Otago have been dealt a hefty blow in the opening week of their NPC season after losing Jona Nareki for the entire campaign due to injury.

Was he seriously in AB contention?

@Stargazer Wonder if there are any new signings for Super rugby teams in 2023 of returning Kiwis from overseas on overseas players.

We really missed him. I think he is the future. workmate is phenomenal and puts a few of the sunshine boys in the forward pack to shame.

Future AB captain ? Him or Papalii?

I think over the dominant period from the 2000's on we started to love the smell of our own farts and got a bit too altruistic with our time and I.P. Inviting Roy Keane down to see how we coach for example. Books like "legacy" being written.

I also do not understand why we let so many outsiders into the environment to get a look at how we operate over the last 15 years or so.

The likes of O'Gara, Matera, Haskell.

Players who go on sabbaticals should be told not to come back.

Coaches who go abroad should be fucked off too.

If you aren't onboard with NZ as a project then do-one.

I like Blackadder, but that's an odd compilation. It starts with him arguably enyering the ruck from the side , follows up with an ineffective clean, then cuts to him getting stepped and bailed our by Beaudy in cover...amd that's just the first 30 seconds!

We definetly have some talented youngsters coming through the system. The Under 20s this year were very impressive in the Oceania Cup. Hopefully Silverlake poors more resources into the Under 20s. The loss of talent abroad both coaching and players is having an effect as that is a contributing factor in the growing performance of the Northern Hemisphere. We have also poored a lot into the Japanese game. We need that talent back in New Zealand to strengthen our game instead of developing other nations at the expense of ours.

I don't disagree, just making the point that the compilation doesn't capture any of that! Personally I would have left out the infringements and inneffective cleans...

It's hard to gauge how good the Under 20s were this year because we don't know how strong the opposition was. What does seem promising is the number of players from that team looking good at NPC level.

@Crazy-Horse I agree with that. Without a World U20 Championship, you just don't know. The Aussie U20 team looked terrible, the Pumitas looked good, but would we have beaten the Junior Boks?

    semi interesting stats

Involvements in the 6 games so far

    All 6
    Cane (6 starts)
    Savea (6 starts)
    Smith (6 starts)
    R Ioane (6 starts)
    J Barrett (6 starts)
    R Mounga (2 starts, 6 bench)
    Bower (4 starts 2 bench)

    5 games
    Taylor (3 starts 2 bench)
    Whitelock (5 starts)
    S Barrett (5 starts)
    B Barrett (4 starts 1 bench)
    Tupaea (2 starts 3 bench)
    Jordan (1 bench 4 starts)
    Taukeiaho (2 bench 3 starts)

For a team that is 2-4, it's interesting to see so many ever-presents.

Am i calling for all of those players to get the ass? no
Should a team focused on peak performance be rewarding failure with selection over and over? also no

Reading your list one would think Sami T was one of the worst performers or often injured.

probably the only one to demand he starts with continued high performance, even if there is still some debate about if he should be at 8, 7 or on the bench.

Lord was injured, but outside him, is it only Sotutu who has zero minutes so far from the squad named?

@taniwharugby it really is baffling for a team to be struggling so much and not even try something different like sotutu...and not even crazy different like....just trying someone you picked for your squad in his primary position...or Fainga'anuku
