@Nepia It is generally a long time between drinks so to speak when you are a Tech Rugby supporter so we certainly enjoy our better seasons! Come summer time it is a completely different situation with the Texans having been NZ One Day 50 Over Club Cricket Champions since about 2018!

Have been flat out and MIA from the fern. Great to see from skimming through the posts Tech is still the best club with the best players and supporters. Likely best looking and most modest too. Couple 69 point wins very nicccce as well.
Ah, so Tech fans are the Cantabs of HB.

TBF, wasn't talking about you old timers, just referring to @Magpie_in_aus doing his best Canerby/Phooey impression.

No 1, he's back! Hallelujah says @Stargazer
I hope to be at Farndon Park after taking in NBHS v Well Coll kicking off at 12.30pm. Will probably only manage to see the first half of the Mighty Altherm Texans as I'm off to Meeanee Speedway for the finals night of the Peter Barry Memorial Teams Racing Championships where I will probably run into @Stockcar86 The first race there is at 4.00pm so I will probably not be in a position to comment about anything rugby until latish Saturday night. It promises to be a challenging day with the temperature in Meeanee at the moment (10.32am) just 9.6 degrees (due to get to 20 according to the radio forecast!!!!) so will be rather chilled when the speedway finishes around 8.00pm. Might have to take the hip flask to ward off the chill!

@Stargazer Spoke briefly to a couple of guys at The Nest last Saturday night and they said he was improving and expected to be back sometime soon. Did not speak to Tim himself as he and his father appeared to be in discussion with the others at their bar leaner (two across from the one I was at) and it would be rude to interrupt.

Can't find the Clive lineup but interesting to note the referees allocated premier games this week include Nick Hogan, Sheldon Eden-Whaitiri, Daniel Waenga and Tipene Cotterell all who have refereed in the NPC with some of them also having had Super Rugby appointments. There are another couple whose names escape me for the moment who have had first class appointments not reffing at premier level this week, probably doing Tranzit games at NBHS????? That is a real feather in the cap of those involved in the refereeing circles in Hawkes Bay. All is not 100% rosy however as, like a number of other provinces, there is a shortage of numbers to ensure all games have "qualified" refs rather than having to rely on well meaning volunteers and dads at Junior levels.
Things are looking up a bit with the thermometer now showing a reading of 10.5 degrees!

Nash Cup round 5 full time scores (match sheets under the links):
Taradale 66 - 20 MAC
Clive 7 - 75 Tech
Pirates 14 - 59 NOBM
Hastings 32 - 33 Villagers
Central 28 - 32 Tamatea
Those lopsided scores aren't a good sign. In the case of Clive, it's clear they've lost a lot of their players to Moana Pasifika, but not sure what's causing the other big scores. -

I'm guessing Clive must have got a runaway intercept as they were rather obliterated in the 40 minutes I saw. Still I am happy about any win my guys get..

I haven't spotted Joel Hintz in club rugby yet, this season. Around the same time the competition started, I saw his instagram posts with photos - first from Australia (Northern Territories), then the lower South Island - all about hunting, fishing. Nothing rugby.
Is he injured, or has he left the province?

@Daffy-Jaffy Thanks for posting that! I knew that several former Magpies are playing for that team, but didn't realise it is that stacked!

@Stargazer No, he is back up at the Chiefs. I might, or might not, be at the game tomorrow. If it is too wet for Speedway then pretty good chance I will venture over for the game after taking in the Texans Under 21s 1.15pm match against Pirates at Whitmore Park. Pretty sure that is one of the Colts boys starting at first five for the Altherm Prems tomorrow, a player that is quite diminutive size wise! That backline looks like it is a sort of who is fit type team where you slot in anyone that is not injured and stick them anywhere!
Interesting to note NZ Superstocks runnerup Jason Long on the team sheet of the home side. Looks like he will have to bugger off at half time if he is to make the grid for the first race in the Superstock Autumn Nationals being staged at Meeanee Speedway starting at 4.00pm! Also, is that homeside openside flanker a Chinese Samoan or a genuine Chinese?
EDIT: I see he is a Cook Island International under the name of Jardine Pumati-Chung Ching. http://en.espn.co.uk/scrum/rugby/player/308628.html -
Again, no Tom Parsons. He's not playing in Wellington either.
Taradale: TBC

Busy day for Kaihau Pasikala, who's both named to start for the Havelock North Colts team and on the premiers bench.
