Medvedev...
Kinda good though
Still an arsehole
I don't get this, or tennis followers in general. Does anyone know Medvedev or do they just not like a player who beats players they like, who they also don't know.
I wouldn't endear myself to a crowd that booed me either.
It was pretty shit, and unfortunately I think it worked too.

I'm rating him based on his tanty to the ump in the semi.
Entitled millennial who thinks telling louder makes your argument right. (Even if he may have had a point.)

Wasn't he proven to be correct? Haven't tennis umpires demonstrated an inability to do their job competently? I'd hardly pass judgement on a person for doing the same thing I would; be insistent that someone do the job they're there to do.

Damn - after the first set, I thought Medvedev would walk home.
After the second set, I thought Rafa had blown his chance.
Get up this morning and he's won 21 Grand Slams.
He's probably the guy I'd least like to compete against in sport. Appears to never know when he's beaten and fights to the last point.

Same.
Had written Rafa off after Set 2 and turned it off. Hopefully there will be replays so I can re-watch. They talk about the experience of so many Grand Slams getting him over the line and I guess that is true - the experience of being able to stay relaxed, play point by point and absorb the pressure in the big games. Same with Barty on Saturday- she was behind 5-1 and went on to win the set. Didn’t play that many exceptional winners ( the final point probably the most memorable) but she just absorbed the pressure and let her opponent implode

I can point a few out here. But it is hardly a sport and their last sentence seldom involves a reasonable point...

On the game, I too thought Rafa was toast. What a fighter. Medvedev only had a tiny crumble I thought. Serve a weapon, under-rated movement for a giant mechanical praying mantis, his backhand and passing shots in particular though, I'd love to acquire.
I thought Nadal had lost some zip on his volleys and overall groundstrokes? Or perhaps Medvedev just made them look less deadly... -

He has a lot to learn about customer relations... I recall Joker being pretty unliked early on. He has an excellent game, there is always time to make nice with the crowd, if he wants to

I liked the comment about the wife and the broken tv. I suspect he has a dark sense of humour that isn't a quick to warm up to style.
And he's got resting prick face. -

Did you see his post match speech? Extremely gracious towards Nadal, respectful to the media & came across good.
Dunno who this person is (and why their comments are on tennis are relevant), but I'm 100% with Medvedev here. You can't spend 5 hours ignoring winners, cheering errors & booing Hawkeye awarding you points then expect your target to have any interest in anything you say or do anymore.

The Medvedev press conference was a little weird:
"The kid is going to play for himself."
I wasn't a fan of the crowd behaviour but I think this was a bit OTT.
As if he wasn't playing for himself, possibly Russia, and probably the $$.
I don't really think he was playing for Australians before.
