All Blacks v Ireland, 2021 NH Tour

We have some issues with our depth in really key backline positions.
Behind A Smith we have nothing. The cupboard is bare. If he's not playing we struggle.
Mo'unga is not a test 10s asshole. He's been found out time and again against the top sides, just doesn't have what it takes at the top level. With Beauden in the twilight of his career we have noone coming through, again cupboard is bare.
We don't have a test class 12 other than (maybe) ALB. Cupboard is bare.
When our 9-10-12 axis is not test quality then we will get disjointed performances like this as nobody takes control of the game and directs play.
-
Well f*ck. All my three teams lost in the last 12 hours.
It's close to 6.30am and I need drink.

So how does a team with three Kiwis who were never going to be ABs beat us?
The other 12 players around them helped a bit
I’d make it the other 20 around them.

Needed to remain patient panicked in 2nd half
As we have done since 2017

It's in addition to Havili doing fuck all. At least Jordie and BB did something where as Havili did nothing. He wasn't the only one but it shows he's not the best player for the position.

Ireland has won 3 out of the last 5 Tests against us

Jordie, Papalii, Blackadder were good. 2nd half disappointing.
Needed to remain patient panicked in 2nd half
BB a big lossWas Blackadder really good? He seemed pretty ineffective to me. High workrate but doesn't dominate in the contact area and is pretty inaccurate at the breakdown.
Ardie's worst game in black this year imo.
-
@no-quarter You sure love to hate on Mo'unga. BB has offered nothing more in the big games. Nothing. And people are blaming me for having an eye patch, haha.

Was just thinking that. Nothing for 111 years and now 3-2 five years later.

Not my point game plan is fucked we learned nothing in 2 years we keep losing to the Ireland, SA England even Argentina

And if they win another 27 without a loss in between, they will be the only test team with a winning records vs the ABs

This for me, is one of our darkest days.
We were absolutely pummeled. Ireland should have won by 50.
We showed zero grit, zero game plan and tried to show boat our way through it.
And the best part? Seeing fucking Lowe, Gibson Park jumping out of their fucking skins.
I am so fucking angry right now.
-
Holy shit Super Rugby team bias everywhere. I'm going to bed, Havili, Mo'unga and Reece were shit.

I've never said Beauden is a test quality 10, and also acknowledge he is in the twilight of his career. But even so he's a damn sight better than Mo'unga in the big tests. The problem is our cupboard is bare at 10, we simply don't have a test quality 10.
-
Good win to Ireland.... Played the team and officials well.
ABs were poor and lacked any leadership in the halves
TJP was solid on D but actually a real handbrake to getting any fast ball, slow passing, slow options, shitty exits... No urgency at all.Sam and BBBR are on the wane?
RI is not a centres arsehole as far as positional play.
Overall we didn't value possession enough, didn't adapt to officiating, the game could have been stolen right to the end...

Neither BB or Ritchie have impressed me in tight games. FWIW, they sem uncomfortable with the game plan - whatever it's supposed to be.
-
@victor-meldrew We need someone like Robertson. He knows how to get the best out of players.
-
The Irish 6 was awesome. That is what akira and blackadder should aspire to.

Agree vision I think it’s called.
-
The few times the AB forwards picked and went (pick and goed?) went pretty well, when the cleaners were accurate and able to present quick ball. Only they went to the backs too soon, before the defence was sucked around the ruck. That's the halves' fault

On that we agree. Foster has done some good stuff this year but this game and the game against the Boks show that we need more change in the coaching set up as the big boys have worked out how to rattle us and throw us off our game.
-
There appears to be unusual obsession with the intergluteal cleft in a number of posts…
-
Foster is shit shit shit,
Shit player and a shit coach right of the next WC we have no chance in a tight WC tournament under the Fister circus. -
@tordah said in All Blacks v Ireland, 2021 NH Tour:
Referee was fine overall but that TMO can suck a dick, not every little decision needs to be looked at for 5 minutes you fluffybunny. Also, that was not a YC for Taylor (probably didn't change the result, though).
Jonathan Sexton looks like a perpetual 12 year old whiny little neighbor's boy, David Havili and Rieko Ioane aren't a midfield's butthole. The TV perspective on Akira try is very deceptive, because a line ball would look forward from the angle, which this ball did.
Clear and obvious? Only to those with no grasp of geometry.
-
@gt12 offocial has been pedantic ,but you cant deny the All Blacks have been totally outplayed..
In fact the score is flattering
My underlying thoughts ,players like Aki ,Gibson Park and lowes who would not been in the All Black frame here in NZ have gone on to be world class players ,gotta say some there must be some great individual coaching going on in Ireland
Irelands victory in my opinion was more impressive than the Springboks victory over the All Blacks ..
Won all the big moments ,ball retention and movement was next level
And defensively they stuck so much pressure on the All Blacks . -
I lost sight of Dalton and Richie in the last few minutes - were they still on?
I see Ardie got isolated again after one of his runs, I think the loose forwards have trouble keeping up with him but I don't think the balance works well with him and Akira on together at 6 and 8. I think I prefer Akira to start over Ethan to wear them down, he did use his bulk well and I thought that failed try was just one of those things.
I wanted RIoane to succeed at 13 because of his pace but he just doesn't seem to have the execution, legs are fast, arms (passes) seem to hesitate and his passing accuracy can go awol.
We really have a serious depth problem at midfield.
And I saw BBBR toiling hard but he and Sam are getting older and slower, we need one faster lock. And I don't want to see Lomax at prop again. That was a huge, costly and unnecessary mistake. -

For me, I'm always only angry if I feel the other team didn't deserve the win, be it luck or refereeing. So, I can swallow the losses against the Boks, England in the RWC and Ireland now, a lot more, than some others (BIL 2017 - GGHHHRAAARRR!!!)

They lifted and got us back for the ABs dominating them in the RWC QF. A good rivalry
-
Firstly, well done Ireland. Deserved winners.
The problems for the ABs start up front. The starting front row were all poor and we lacked dominant ball runners in the loose forwards. Not starting Ioane, or bringing him on early in the 2nd half was a huge mistake. Play Coles and ST. Neither lock played well.
TJP is like a handbrake for the attack. Smith has to start against France. Havili doesn't look like a test 2nd 5.
This test has shown who shouldn't be in the team next week.

We need Robertson ASAP. I feel like a Man U fan waiting for the announcement that they have finally hired a real manager instead of a substitute PE teacher.

My concern is that Robertson won't make that much difference and we've effectively shared the headless-chicken stuff from the field to the coaches office.
Something has gone badly wrong in the last 4 years. The only good thing to come from this game is it might make people sit up and ask some hard questions - players, coaches and NZRFU management

I thought Moody tried hard across the field, Paps was solid in tackling.
I agree I think Coles is clearly ahead of Taylor (I don't know what has happened to his form).
