Else if the coin lands other way Aus beat NZ in final as we are their gimp in most head to head scenarios
So, basically anyone but Pakistan to win? Sure you don't want to hedge with them?
lol only 2 teams win Eng or Aus depending on who makes the final, most likely and Eng win
-
Pakistan are ranked 2nd in the world at T20s, they bat deep and have a world class bowling attack. They are also essentially at home in the UAE, so it's no fluke that they've been one of the top sides. I have a Pakistan - England final with Pakistan taking the chocolates as the most likely outcome.

Same.
Aus a chance to peak at right time, and spoil it for either those two, though.

agreed.
We may burgle 1, but can't see us burgling 2

Bloody realists.
This thing is ours to lose, boys!
-
Australia to win, with Davy Warner at the forefront - all just to annoy me!
So - any changes to our team for tonight?
If it's going to be similar to the Afghan game, I'd be tempted to bring in Jamieson for one of the spinners. Probably Ish - who I'm reading has a poor record vs England and a KJ/Ish swap would strengthen the batting a trifle.
They could also bring in Seifert, but that would expose the remaining bowlers too much I think for marginal gains with the bat.

So, a 3am start v England looms...
Not sure what to make of this one. The relative lottery of T20I's, 'yet another bloody ICC knockout game'... and it would be very nice to knock England out after the 2019 drama.
Midnight our time.
Sorry, will have to miss it.
Booboo in bed. Best effort I can muster.

But mostly @Virgil
-
Huge wicket
-
Excellent, needed rid of Malan.
-
Looks like we let England get away a bit too much during the middle period. Need some tight overs now to try and keep the score down.
-
Shithouse death bowling by Ish and Milne

Yep, we don't really have any good death bowlers.

No idea why Cane experimented with Phillips for. He's a part timer and was always a big risk against the powerful English batsmen, he ended up giving England the momentum back.

To be fair, the bowlers have been the best death bowling unit in the tournament and have done a good job of getting us this far. It will have to be up to our shallow batting line up to get the job done today, it seems
-
Too many hittable ones at the wrong times.
Boult goes for 40 off his four overs.
-
Need Neesham to fluke one of his good overs like he did against Afghanistan.
-
Jimmy!!!!!
-
Definitely some curious bowling choices today. That might have been Phillip's first over in the tournament?
I thought Neesh might have bowled two overs at the death. But he's back on at the last over, starting with 0/7... and now a wicket and a boundary...

Yeah, I think that was Phillips first over too.
-
Poor fielding off the last two balls costs an extra three runs and denies a wicket
-
167 needed to win.
-
I feel it's England's game to lose at the moment.
Hopefully Guptill has a big innings today.
-
And Guppy throws it away. Been a batsman short all tournament, and today is the day we are going to miss them...
-
Disappointing from Guptill but lot of batters still to come.
-
Williamson looks to be struggling which is not a good sign.
-
And Williamson goes for 5 off 11...
-
woke up, so got up to watch the second innings.
Damn. Need nearly 10s an over for 14 overs, 2 down and a long tail. It's not impossible, but it's going to be really challenging.
Come on Son Of John!
-
A grumpy 5am and wide awake reflection. This tournament is reaffirming that the IPL is good entertainment and brilliant for the players bank balances.
But in terms of translating into pressure T20I performances... India were pants in their two big games, and of our three highest paid/profile IPL players; Jamieson hasn't featured all tournament, and Boult and Williamson had unusually below par shifts today.
-
@donsteppa Philips will need a miracle from here.
We're not even firing a shot.
I actually disagree on IPL - T20 is very random on a game by game basis; it's like baseball. You need a series to figure out which team is better.
Right now, that's not us. This is the performance I feared, nto the one I hoped for
-
@nzzp ironically that's why I had high hopes for this one - jamming two wins at the business end of this one without that unbalanced team selection coming back to bite us.
I missed Santner's bowling earlier, did anyone see enough to figure out why he bowled only one over?
-

Comms seemed to infer it was because they didn't want to bowl him to left handers.
I was asleep, so no idea really

I wonder if teams overthink that stuff at times, if the alternative is an over from Philips
Looks like this pair have decided that they have to throw the kitchen sink at it now. Nice six to Conway.
-
we haven't put away the bad balls.
And that's probably going to cost us the game. 2-3 sixes so far, and this is a different game; need 9s not 11s from here
-
wow, that is some effort from Jordan

Yep, Mitchell has particularly struggled with his timing.

far our Morrison is ignorant of the rules sometimes. Ball clearly hits the rope 'I think he's alright there'

our hope is wickets in hand. These two have played really well - a flurry of boundaries, and some pinch hitting, and we're an outside chance of a chance
-
Fantastic 6 there!
