T20 World Cup 2021

I saw some comments that teams batting first have struggled in this tournament
Skimming in through the results it seems only 8 teams have won batting first in 28 matches
Of those 8 wins, ~5 of them had a large quality gap between the sides
Afg beat Nam
WI beat Ban
Afg beat Sco
Ban beat PNG
Sri beat Ire
Ban beat Oman
Sco over PNG
Sco beat BanCouldn't be bothered looking up the coin tosses. I presume it's almost always win the toss and chase?

I have day off work. Would like to watch the entire match to fill in a few hours. I cant find the stream on Spark? Only see the 6 min highlights packages of all the matches?
Same thing last weekend when thought I would spend rainy sunday morning watching India V Pak full stream, couldn't find it, eventually went to cricinfo wondering if it must gave been abandoned for some reason...

I think Spark just has highlights. Sky has the live matches and full replays

Ah, cheeky.
I kept the spark subs going after the Bang/Pak tours as I saw they also had the T20WC coverage.
Anyway. Have decided to watch NZ v Aus lawns bowls ball ODI match from 1982 instead of Windies 87. As I've never seen this one where as i had the Windies match on a VHS back in the day when TVNZ did a best victories of the 1980s program back on new year 1989 which i taped.

Great result by our lads. Turned up and did the job we had to do and did it convincingly.
I woke and was gonna put it on the TV but just opted for occasional checks on cricinfo and always looked well under control. Didnt need my eyes on the big screen to jinx it

@rapido Sky is presently running an ad featuring Laura Guppy advertising cricket coverage for the summer.
As well as the T20 WC, they're going to have the BCs in India and Oz and the Ashes among other things, so worth checking what Spark is offering.

Wow. Just finished watching this on sky sport after recording and then avoiding the news this morning. Well done nz. Just a thought but the dropped boundary catch by Neesham was critical in our favour. His superhuman effort to stop the 6 became a huge part of the boundary struggle that dashed the Indian spirits. Then Daryl Mitchell showed what a power driver can do. Great bowling Sodhi Boult and Souther. But that fielding effort won it in my eyes.

So only the Afghanistan banana skin to get through and we are in the Semifinals.
Although the way India are performing they may also come second to them.
And Afghanistan in these conditions is not one to be taken likely in this format. I agree with you it is a potential banana skin, but if we go in as if we were playing a top nation we should be ok. Just hope the guys dont take it to easy.

Completely agree. They would have seen the game vs Pakistan and will surely see they are better than a walk-over. They are performing better than India at the moment so to write them off would be foolish of our guys (Which I am sure they won't)
-
@bayimports we have a really tough week. Three more games. Wed v Scotland, Fri v Namibia and then Sunday v Afghanistan.

Unless Pakistan using lulling us all into a false sense of security only to bet on themselves when the odds get tempting, we should both walk in from here..
ha ha when you look the schedule like that , must be hard for the guys to stay focused!

Conditions (or results?) seem to be very slanted - not sure why. They're saying the dew, but it seems to be games at both times of day (but especially late games). I haven't really noticed people struggling to grip the ball - and lots have just been the team batting first getting knocked over cheaply.
England was in a bit of trouble vs SL last night, but Buttler and Morgan got them out of it.
Pretty important that Kane win the toss vs Afghanistan.
Even better would be to make the play-offs and win two tosses in those.

I haven't ever bought into the idea that we lost that game.
We didn't.
we drew the game, the tournament was awarded to England.
I'd buy a replica and put it up
We didn't draw the game, we won it on wickets, but they inexplicably changed the rules for that tournament and that tournament alone, making a complete farce of the tournament.
-
@no-quarter I'm prepared to generously allow that England tied the match, through two massive slices of luck and the efforts of a New Zealander.
And if any Englishman wants to quibble with that - we also won the Super over by half a run!
-
Well the English have every right to be confident about their team in the short forms of the game. Another team destroyed last night.
T20 seems like the only format you that have to back immediate form and PAK and themslves riding high. Still a few teams who on their day can beat both (including us) but a great start to the tournament by both.
