Pocock is an awesome player but imo the Aussies suffered from trying to shoe horn Pocock AND Hoopah in. Stuffed their lineout and balance of their loosies. Good for us though.

I think it was more down to shit throwing by Moore (for a unit, his throwing action indicates a weak core) and the loss of Douglas to hit some grunt work for 60, then let Mumm on.

I liken the loss of Douglas in the first quarter to you guys losing Brodie Retallick. He's such an important part of the grunt.
-

Not saying he is a world beater but he certainly outplayed an injured and often overmatched Pocock during that tournament which was the question from NTA.

Fardy does manage to get through a lot of grunt work and tackles very efficiently which stands out with Australia's at times porous defence. He still manages the odd snipe too, but I find he picks his spots a little better than Pocock turning the ball over in better field position. Pocock at international level is the king of the turnover between his own 22 and halfway where there is usually very little opportunity to capitalise - I don't believe he had a single turnover in the opposition half the whole tournament.

I thought Pocock was getting talked up as the player of the tournament?

It might have just been a timing issue with Fardy, when I noticed the hype (heard the fluffing from FNQ) it was 1/4 finals time on so that's when I started watching him closely Kaino was nearly in beast mode at the same time.

Incidentally, a ruck turnover is one of the good things I can remember Fardy doing in the final.

Yeah, Douglas was a big loss for you guys in the final.
-

2 contracts in a week supposedly making players highest paid.... -

An odd person to make a run at in such a big way given his injury history. I think the European schedule would massacre him.
-

-

I wonder if that was/is a factor in the contract, that he will not be available for the Wobblies?

Has 48 Tests presently. This year we have:

3 x England

6 x TRC

1 x Bledisloe

5 x EOYT

He could miss the England series and still make The Giteau Rule of 60 Wallabies caps.

As for his injury history - two knee reconstructions isn't a great look, but while they play more games up there, the rugby isn't as intense. George Smith is still fucking killing it (at Wasps incidentally) and he's about 604.

Pocock's fitness would get him through a European season without too many hassles. Its the likelihood of some fat Pommy fuck taking his knee out that is the issue. But apparently people think he's worth the risk.
-

how does a man who just had 2 years off need a break from Super rugby and Wallaby duty?

You act like this rule is legitimate. They will drop the bar to whatever they must to suit them, it'll be 50 caps if need be and called the Pocock Rule going forward if he is still keen on playing for the Wallabies (unlikely if he wants to go directly from the EOYT into a European season then return for June Internationals and TRC).
-
