Too me if its true its Bullshit. You think what you likePlenty of stuff has been reported, most of it directly contradicting the previous report. But yes, I suggest everyone just wait and see what is announced before getting outraged over bullshit special treatment.

If he has signed a one year contract, is that really that unusual? Don't a few guys do that now?
I know he committed to NZ Rugby for 2 years, according to that article. Kinda unusual, but really not much different to contracting year by year in my opinion. -
Alot of sensitive Canes fans
Once BB went Jordie was goneski
So he likely goes to Auckland to play with Beaudy and lives in a major city
Or Crusaders & play in his preferred position of #12, with coaches he knows atm + spend a year at least with Scott Barrett
If you're a good AB player you've alot of leverage Sign shorter contacts with opt outs/players options + Sabbaticals clauses
NZR are a doing a good job NZ Super Rugby clubs better get used to this
Japs are offering alot of money to play mickey mouse rugby

You realise Wellington is the capital right?

@Canes4life Sorry for correcting you, but it's McClutchie, not McLutchie.
I wish the printers who sorted me 1000 business cards with my name spelt wrong were this pedantic.
I can't believe they couldn't spell Ronald correctly!

Oh, wait a minute ... that's not in the Hurricanes media release:
Under his contract, Barrett also has the option to change Super Rugby clubs at some point post 2020. Barrett said he still had a strong desire to play Super Rugby alongside his brothers at some point in his career but added that when that would happen remained unclear.

Yep, a 3 year deal with NZ rugby but only committing the one year with the Canes. So the writing is pretty much on the wall given BB is off to the blues and Scott would be a madman to leave the Saders.
I'm with @Chris, this is lame imo. He is a talent but he's rocks and diamonds at the moment. He hasn't, imo, earned the right to have those sorts of terms in his contract. I guess NZ rugby are looking more and more at contracting arrangements (in addition to pure $$) to keep a wider range of talent in NZ??
I guess he could stick with us after 2020, but that seems highly unlikely.

Oh I am very aware
Does not change the fact that Auckland is by far the largest city in NZWellington like Canberra may be the Capital City of their respective nations
but are merely provincial towns on a global scaleSydney and Auckland are the most world renowned cities in AUS + NZ
But I appreciate your attempts in teaching me the Geography of NZ
Save it for the next non Kiwi you encounter on TSF -
Now that we actually have something official it is interesting to see that it is a three year deal with the canes and NZ but with a Canes “out clause” rather than a one year Canes deal. I guess that provides the most certainty out of any of the flexible options.
While it appears a strange way to go about it im glad his out clause is only at super rugby level and not one to leave NZ all together.I don’t think this type of contract will provide any more of a distraction than the will he, won’t he stuff we see with lots of players for multiple seasons. It will provide lots of click bait article material though.
I wonder if there is a bit more to this than the wanting to play with brothers/in midfield thing.
Someone mentioned a while back that there might be tension between some of the players (eg.BB) and Plumtree. When is Plumtree contracted until? -
John Plumtree: "We want to really develop Jordie as a leader and he will be a key driver in our team for the next three seasons. He is going to play a big role on and off the field for us."
Interesting quote considering it looks fairly evident that he won't be a Cane in 2021.

@Jaguares4real we might not be the biggest, but we are the most liveable. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2018/05/wellington-voted-most-liveable-city-for-second-year-in-a-row.html

Don't let this descend into which city is better because some foreign troll is posting.

@Jaguares4real so the correct term is being a dick?
Given we are talking about playing within NZ why does any international perspective matter?
