@nzzp been listening to a few podcast interviews and by fuck these kids come across as boring.

Not that I really care but it's a factory line of squares compared to the old characters.

Lots of lame pranks, Xbox and eating lollies

one of the outcomes of having to spend so much time in the gym and on the training paddock. They aren't prepared for life, and don't tend to develop life skills.

Yeah, it's more a sign of the times than a criticism as they're more or less just stock for the sports entertainment industry nowdays.

George Bridge has re-signed with NZR and the Crusaders for FOUR years (2022). That makes him the first player to be signed through to 2022. He has also re-signed with Canterbury for three years (2021).

Tevita Nabura suspended for 6 weeks

The SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee has accepted a guilty plea from Tevita Nabura of the Highlanders for contravening Law 9.12: Kicking, after he was Red Carded during a Super Rugby Match at the Weekend.

Nabura has been suspended from all forms of the game for six weeks, up to and including Friday 6 July 2018.

The incident occurred in the 17th minute of the match between the Waratahs and Highlanders played at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on 19 May 2018.

The SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee of Nigel Hampton QC (Chairman), Stefan Terblanche and John Langford assessed the case.

In his finding, Foul Play Review Committee Chairman Nigel Hampton QC ruled the following:

“Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles, and a statement from the player and submissions from his legal representative, Aaron Lloyd, the Foul Play Review Committee upheld the Red Card under Law 9.12 (physical abuse – kicking). The player’s action was seen by the Committee as a misguided effort by an inexperienced player to both try and regain balance whilst in the air and ward off the approaching opposing player.”

“With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a top-end entry point of 12 weeks due to the contact with the opposition player’s head. As it is required to do, the Committee assessed that, given the comparative lack of force of the actual contact to the head and the lack of any injury to the other player, the entry point should remain at 12 weeks. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the Player’s excellent record, his remorse, his inexperience and his guilty plea at the first available opportunity, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension by 50% to a sanction of 6 weeks.”

“The Player is suspended up to and including Friday 6 July 2018.”

probably a bit heavy given some others we have seen where contact around the head got less, but also deserving for the complete boneheadedness.

    Hope he said sorry.

@taniwharugby As long as he tried to say sorry. That's the important part.

Top end entry point, so his sanction ends up being half. It must have been a groveling apology. I'd add on weeks for presuming I was dumb enough to buy the "regain balance" nonsense. You won't see a clearer audition for Karate Kid this year.

@antipodean On the other hand, I find it a bit hard to believe that he's thought, "I'm going to kick that guy in the face in an internationally televised match because who's going to notice and what could possibly go wrong"!

Meanwhile in Melbourne the Sunwolves started well, and the game was a try each after 15. Rebels have pulled away though with a couple more and the next 15 minutes have been 14-3 in their favour.
Was hoping the flashes of good that the Sunwolves have shown would give them confidence against a team of the Rebels level. Let's see if they can fight back.

Not a game in hand I dont think. As of right now Jags are 2 points behind Lions and both have 3 games left to play this regular season.

Just noticed that the Lions have the best attacking and defending record in the competition (431 points for, 223 points against), but their record is 7-6. Shows how relevant those stats are, but to have such a good points diff, so few points against and such a mediocre record they must have had some close, low scoring losses mixed with some hidings.

@cyclops Think you have to factor in which teams they have played and how many at home for the stats to have any relevance. Plus the fact the NZ conference is the toughest
