    Got to be kidding me. I can't believe Hammett has been sent to be my own personal torment. Maybe I should start supporting Ireland.

    @Bovidae Why not?

    He's had four seasons as a Super head coach, coached Japan, assisted at the Crusaders, Highlanders and Mako$.

    Hard to see who's going to be close to as experienced given that it seems none of the supposed big gun NZers in the NH seem to want the job of coaching our Super teams? Plumtree, I suppose - but he may not be interested and the cupboard looks a bit bare behind him.

    I reckon Hammett will be good! 🙂

    I'm probably the only one who is glad this has happened. Am thinking with my ABs cap on though. Have been of the opinion that Roberston has not managed Whitelock's workload well this year and he's played almost every minute of the season so far. The break will do him a lot of good.

    I dunno. I think Sammy W's leadership has been a revelation for the Saders this season, and a bloody big part of why they sit at the top of the log. He must be one of the players that thrives on playing every minute and I like the way Scott Robertson has given him the reins.

    @Chris-B.

    Hammett has plenty of experience at losing/underachieving, or have you forgotten Cardiff as well? I think he's one of those who is better as an assistant than a head coach. If I was a Highlanders supporter I wouldn't be happy if Hammett was named as Brown's replacement.

    Not my problem though...

    No doubt he's racked up plenty of losses, but I don't tend to think he's underachieved as badly as many others think.

    Cardiff - I had temporarily forgotten. He wasn't there long - but, he won quite a few matches with a team that was not particularly good to start with. He may not have made them any better, but I don't think he made them any worse.

    I never thought I'd see anyone being so Wingeresque about the Hammetuer.

    The blues could finally get a decent halves combo after one season of this clowns management .

    He must interview like Jesus . He's one of those coaches that seems to get employed no matter what happens where they were last and he slots in nicely with a list that includes John Mitchell , Jake White and Scott Johnson .

    I've tried to repress most memories of that era.
    I remember reading one time he was apparently the one who came with the plan of how to beat the Brumbies in the 2000 s12 final, maybe he's a better tactician or assistant coach like other have suggested?

    Hammett might be head coach , but I suspect it's just as likely to be McLeod or even Preston. Highlanders management seem to be fairly switched on. Hammett had a good go as a head coach and just wasn't up to it - though I am prepared to believe he's a good tactical coach.

    Quite a number of AB squad hopefuls returning to play in the next few rounds after a nice rest. Cue Stephen Jones writing a conspiracy theory about NZRU pulling strings to make sure our players are extra fresh for the international season.

    NMS
    Coles
    Ngatai
    Harris
    Sopoaga

    S Whitelock and BFA get a refresher

    Dagg has had a decent rest already (when is he back?)

    Kaino is off recharging as is Read.

    TKB took a little knock to get a break.

    Anyone else?
