<p>That's the time you put them somewhere where you can't hear them and bank on the fact their immobility will mean they stay in the same place for at least a minute or two which should be all you need.</p>

<p>I'm banking on the Caps to come back far stronger as is often the case with them, whether it's enough to even threaten a win is another story but they will show more guts and the aforementioned top order will do better.</p>

<p>I'm not sure if the Neesh is quite at Oram levels of brokenness is he ? As a like for like replacement of Anderson he is very appealing.</p>

<p>I'm also curious as to the reasons why people think he's not a test six. two tons in a brief career would indicate otherwise.</p> -

Anderson is definitely a better batsman than Craig. Craig has relied on not outs for his average. Anderson can bat at number 6, he just has to contribute with the ball. He is not one of the 6 best batsmen in New Zealand.</p></blockquote>

<p>Dean Brownlie is injured I think but he is definitely better than Anderson. Not sure how long he is out for. I think Will Young is definitely a better player although he is still a bit green. There are a couple more with better FC batting records than Anderson but without seeing them play much it is hard to judge. One of them is even called Ben Smith (although he happens to be an opener).</p>

<p>Neesham has a good record over his 9 tests. At the very least he deserves the opportunity to prove himself as a number 6.</p> -

<p>First class average in the mid 30s and young enough to get that considerably better. I know cricket is one of those games where sometimes guys get tons ( I mean a Windies out and out paceman got one against the BCs and has got fuck all since ) but two in nine tests is a wonderful return so far.</p>

<p>It's a funny old rule of thumb the batting order in a cricket team. Number 6 is generally someone who bowls more than a bit ( although Alan Border batted there when he was easily the best bat in his team, ditto Viv Richards ), 7 is the keeper and 8 is the bowler who is the best batsman ( supposedly ). Things can and do chop and change though and as they develop they move up the order ( Cairns, Oram and Vettori being modern examples ) but the BCs have floated the idea of Watling as a genuine 6 with Neesh at 7 and the bowlers. I think this might be an option. I think in the modern game especially guys have to be prepared to do a shitload of bowling at times then if the team finds themselves 40-4 they have to come in and bat earlier than they wanted to where as an opening batsman might have done nothing but stand in the outfield all day then could have gone for a golden. It's just the way it is and your playing role in the team suits your abilities and talents much like the variety of positions in any team sport.</p> -

<p>Thanks. Yeah I thought he was injured because I looked at the Canterbury game and saw he wasn't playing. Of, course he has moved to ND. It's a little strange that Nicholls leap frogged Brownlie given that Brownlie has a far superior FC record and a lot of years left in him</p> -

<p>Corey Anderson domestic FC cricket has 1381 runs, 1x100, 6x50 at an average of 34.53.</p>

<p>Dean Brownlie's domestic FC record is 3361 runs, 8x100, 18x50 at an average of 47.34. Not to mention that a few of those innings have been opening the batting. I am sure that only Williamson has a better domestic FC record than that. Williamson averages 57 for Northern Districts.</p>

<p>Brownlie's test average of 29.62 is worse than Anderson's. However, Brownlie has 2 50's against the Aussies (one of them was in the Hobart test which we would not have won without him. He also has a 50 and a hundred against South Africa in South Africa. The hundred came in the Cape town test where we were bundled out in a session in the first innings. The bowling attack was Steyn, Philander, Morkel and Kallis. His only other 50 was against Zimbabwe over there.</p>

<p>Anderson averages 30.05 which is a little more than Brownlie. However, his only hundred came vs Bangladesh (over there mind you). He also has fifties against India at Eden Park, England at Lords and Pakistan at Sharjah.</p> -

<p>You are right actually. Munro has what must be the 2nd best domestic FC record of anyone in the country. The problem with Munro is that his FC strike rate is 93. He strikes me as a player with one gear who pigs out on bad bowling. I reckon he would get exposed by the best bowlers in the world but the stats themselves do make a compelling case.</p> -
<p>One of the reasons Brownlie moved to ND was that he wanted to reinvent himself as an opener. He felt that was his best way to play international cricket again. For some reason Hesson doesn't see Brownlie as an option in the middle order - I don't know why.</p>
