In said article for 2003 I said it was his greatest moment, kinda updated it for 2015 Jp v SA, and will throw in 2019. But he really doesn't have much in the way of sustained success. Does he? Or am I missing something?
Seems he can nail a big one-off. But long term? ... not sureTo be fair, I think that can be said for almost every England coach and not just EJ. Considering the player depth & talent England have, they rarely reach their potential for some reason.
But outside of England, you may have a point about Jones capabilities.

@booboo England won their first 17 Tests in a row in 2016 and 2017 under Eddie that was a superb achievement. They lost 5 in a row between February and June 2018 and slipped from 2nd to 6th in the World rankings.
He has a slightly worse than 50% record against the ABs which is much better than most international coaches and has won 7 out of 7 against Australia as England coach which suggests he is bloody good at stopping Antipodean sides from playing their fluent, expansive game. That said, he only has a 50% record as England coach against Scotland, a 50% record against South Africa and a 63% record against Ireland. I suspect the way to beat Eddie's teams is to play for territory and look to bully them on set piece if you can.

Would be great if we can knock them out of the RWC. Give him a good going away present.
ah, we're not real good at knocking his teams out of anything
He would rather knock the ABs out of the next RWC than actually win the thing.
How many games has Eddie Jones coached against ABs and how many wins does he have? He has 2 major wins in SFs. Pretty good going. But outside of that?
The 2001 and 02 Bledisloe wins against us still irk. I think Eddie broke the Wallabies Carisbrook hoodoo in one of those years.
Very much riding on Rod Macqueen's coattails at that time (and beforehand at the Brumbies)

I've said this a few times here but I will say it again - Eddie is a very good "analyst" in that he kind clearly work out how a particular teams plays, its strengths and weakness, and the put together a game plan to defeat that team in a one-off match. But I don't know how he goes in building a style of play, or identity, for a team. From the outside looking in, he looks like a bit of the anti-ABs, where their focus is almost entirely inwards, whereas his is very outwards. You could almost see it in the way his team played in the RWC final - it was not just the come down from the week before that was evident, it was also that they didn't really look like they knew what they wanted to do in the same way they did the week before.

Club v Country.
Development of combinations is more difficult when the talent is spread so widely across the pro circuit. Historically, the club scene has not prepared players well for Test rugby because owners don't give a fuck about anything but their own results. But outside of England, you may have a point about Jones capabilities.
I think definitely he's the guy who can come in and develop improvement, but the longevity of those methods is the question.
His book is interesting reading.

Did alright with laying the foundations for Japan - that was a massive cultural shift for them to just go from happy losers "as long as we look good doing it" to serious improvers.

A bit like Rennie riding Fosters at the Chiefs in 2012 and 13…

@act-crusader so true.
Also like Chris Boyd getting the credit for Hammett's hard work.

Sounds like the way you beat the ABs 😉

It's a winning formula against most teams to be fair. But it certainly worked well enough in 2018, where our wet weather kicking was pretty good and Brodie destroyed their line out in the 2nd half. We still had to get a bit lucky to scrape through, though.

Eddie Jones: My rules for England coaches – and why I don’t care if we hate each other
Have to admit the Torygraph's rugby writing, access, and articles are top class (lifehack hint: disable javascript for the site, read what you want)

THanks for that! Some of the articles end up on Herald, but not many
"World Rugby has confirmed it will carry out a review into the behaviour of water-carriers and other support staff as well as issuing a written warning to Australia head coach Dave Rennie." Good news!

Good article on Nick Dolly, the (aussie) England hooker but with a very Oz background
I only came to the UK to visit my grandparents — now I’m an England international
