@hooroo Thought he was very good aside from 3 punts that went too short and too down the middle. Controlled the game pretty well.
No one could kick goals today.
Don’t like cross kicks, his conversions were terrible - but he was really good apart from that.

Hooker is a massive problem if Taylor is not right for next week.
I think we are okay-ish in other positions.
taukeiaho is great, needs to work on lineout throws but early days.

Having not read any comments during the game, here are my thoughts.
Defense, outstanding despite letting in 3 tries. We were accurate physical, and bloody effective.
Tight five good, Bower went up a notch, Taylor of old was back. Brodie into it all.Loose forwards outstanding. Akira got through some work, and should have scored a couple of tries, but unselfishly gave those outside him the simplest of tries.
Weber I though was pretty good until he tired and started throwing a few wayward passes.
BB, good but his goalkicking is and always was woeful. If he starts moving forward in big games we need someone else kicking goals.
Midfield, solid and accurate. ALB surely the premier midfielder in NZ (if we didn’t know that already)
Both wingers very good, love love love seeing Rieko pinning the ears back and going for it. Looks to have some real confidence.
JB, red card I though was a fucking shit call. Was looking up at the ball the entire time, extending his foot so he can land safely, not his fault some idiot got too close.
Front row subs, sub par compared to our starters. Scrum penalties, poor lineout throwing.
Back reserves added something, this game was tailor made for TJs running game.
Performing pretty bloody well I think, some of us, including myself may need to eat Foster humble pie if this form continues…

If Savea is out, then Papalii is our only option at 7.
Who is available who has played super rugby? Is Harmon fit? Other than Kirifi, Choat and Havili are about the only ones left standing.
It's irrelevant, we can't use them. They can't be called into the squad because of MIQ places. Unless ABs booked a lot more than they needed
Not quite true. I think Foster explained that they don’t have many spare spaces so need to be careful with squad management ie not bringing someone over for a short term injury.

His work around the park is very good, and it's awesome to see him fulfilling his potential. His throwing off the bench had been spot on, but that was in 20 minute performances. A lot more pressure having to play 50 minutes or more, and he still has some consistency issues there. Big hope is that he quickly learns from that and throws consistently again. He could be a dominant player at test level.

What was the general feeling on BB and DMac?
Both shit
Beaudy will start the next 2, probably 4, games. Hopefully we'll see some improvement! He needs to practise kicking with a fucking Gilbert ball, fort a start
Yeah. I’m not suggesting we should start anyone else at 10 if Mounga in unavailable. Just had a bit of a shitter today.
Sure, just stating we're pretty much stuck. Unless havili
Or DMac, but then we'll know the coaches are pretty desperate/optimistic..

Just hoping Mo'unga's wife gives birth soon, the South Island goes down to level 2/1 and Queensland will let South Islanders in without 14 days MIQ. If NZ can distinguish between Aussie states for MIQ requirements, there's no reason they can't have different rules for our North and South Island.
-
I'll read through the thread shortly but a couple of quick thoughts:
(1) This new no.6 goes alright and looks a keeper.
(2) BBBR getting better each week.
(3) Weber has to continue to start as TJP looks well off the pace at the moment.
(4) ALB makes a huge difference in the backline defence.
(5) Feek has work to do in the scrum on the TH side.
(6) Generally, the defence was much improved in this game, but clearly the space behind the ruck was exposed. Need better communication from the halfbacks.Concerns if Taylor isn't able to play as we have two inexperienced hookers.

I think you are optimistic on their understanding of NZ geography but I hope you prove correct

still not sure what Koroibete was doing, did look like he was about to tackle a player in the air (did touch him on way down) and got too close...
-
While I think the rule that led to the red is stupid, I'm not not arguing the enforcement of the rule. And I certainly can't see this argument that Mariko is at fault in anyway, the rule is "don't tackle in the air", not "dont get too close to a guy in the air that he might accidentally kick you in the face"
