Well, I only keep wine in my cellar.

You should expand your horizons. Don't limit yourself. I've seen your GOM posts, there are people that deserve to be in your cellar.

I lack your collection of medieval instruments.

I lend them to mates with similar interests. Good wine that sort of thing.

Sounds like a good idea. Hannibal night, Dexter night, etc.

Unfortunately everybody did know the Spanish inquisition was coming, in spite of Monty Python's efforts. They used to let you know months in advance so that you could shit yourself the whole time wondering when and what they were going to do to you.

Now that you mention it there are a few people that I could try that on.

I made Chocolate eclairs filled with a sambuca cream. They were yummy. Shoe ( I know, I know, but I prefer thinking it's spelled this way) pastry isn't all that hard to make, just need to be good at beating it..................

    a few more dots....................

    @hooroo outstanding work.

Smashed out a lemon souffle last night. Really tasty, but I had to pay way more attention than I normally do to making stuff. Pre-prepared everything in little bowls, it was some serious mise on place shit. Made life easy though, just adding pre-measured things together is easy cooking ๐Ÿ™‚

The carpark at the closest block of shops is empty apart from occasional traffic to the dairy. So the speedbumps have made a great speedway circuit for the kids on their bikes.

Only really just feeling like lockdown has just started. I was one of the 'stranded ones' in Queenstown last week but my scheduled flight back on Friday still went ahead. Was getting a bit touch and go but could be stuck in a worse place.
I was having a few days off anyway and despite not being able to go to the skifields we had great fun in good weather. Lighting the fire outside each night for drinks and watching the stars.
Kept busy during the day with a bit of farmwork chasing sheep up in the snowline, some fencing and some yardwork foot-rotting the hoggets.
Expecting to be at home for the next couple of weeks in Welly so getting some little projects done and taking the dog for a run.

I can get through Hill Street intersection with a vastly reduced chance of seeing a car crash right in front of me.

    Nice.

Laksa for dinner round here. Always look forward to that and I don't even have to cook it tonight.

@snowy Everything home made except the chicken. Pate, pickled veg, marinade all from ingredients I had at hand. Own chilli sauce and mayo. Just haven't been able to nail the correct mix of crunchy crust and fluffy interior for the bread. Latest batch definitely had the crisp crunch and the give but still a little denser than I like but definitely going to try again. My previous baguette recipe took fucking hours for an inferior result so definitely a positive for me.

Cooked a gammon last week and have a sharp cheddar so lunches for the week are Sorted! ๐Ÿ™‚

Banh mi is legit. Would also be keen for that recipe if it's not some closely guarded family secret.

Here's the recipe for the easy baguette

The rest I don't have recipes as such for I use a chicken liver pate I've been making for nearly 40 years. Pickle some daikon and carrot. I find rubbing the matchsticks with salt to extract moisture until you can bend them so the two ends touch without breaking before pickling gives a crunchier result.

Marinade the meat in fish sauce lemongrass garlic ketjap manis brown sugar pepper whatever I have to hand

Always have srirachi in larder and had an egg to make some mayo. Missed cucumber and fresh herbs but was still a good lunch

I could live on Vietnamese. My Heart of Darkness Saigon Hazy hasn't arrived but you can'thave everything

@canefan easiest dish in the world to cook too

First spend two days making a killer stock....

As I have boringly said before After the very first lockdown we decided as we canโ€™t travel weโ€™d bring Vietnam to us. Have had a pho every week since outside of lockdown bar 2 when we were in Russell

Made day trips to Hamilton and Tauranga just to have a pho
