Chiefs 2022
-
I reviewed our squad and we are either the 3rd best team or the 5th. We have potentially a very dangerous forward pack, good halves (could be really good if Ioane turns it on), and a solid midfield.
The back three though… some players really need to stand up this year - ENS and/or Stevenson are crucial if our back three is to be really dangerous. If both of them don’t become a consistent threat, while remaining defensive liabilities (at times), we’ll struggle to put out a back three that can really cause trouble.
I’m hoping that Narawa turns out to be a good pickup.

@gt12 It remains to be seen if McMillan favours some of his BOP players. I'm thinking of Trask and Narawa in the backline, in particular.
Both are question marks.
With Tiatia there, we could have lots and lots of rocks/diamonds in the back three…

@ARHS Yeah, it does look like 2 different XVs have been named. 4 extras starting.
Hopefully we see different combinations in that 3rd period. Wrampling is also missing.
I see now. Doh! Tiatia at 12 threw me out from spotting that.

@bovidae wonder if ENS and Stevenson are pencilled in as first choice wings with Narawa seen as back 3 cover or Lowe as wing centre cover. And maybe Slater or Thompson seen as extra loosie cover? Will be interesting to see where players are positioned through the 3 'halves'
I think Chiefs need either Narawa or ENS to break through this season as a strike weapon and expert finisher. There is plenty of depth in forwards and inside and midfield backs. -

Narawa looks like the man to start at fullback. Acceleration off the mark and very elusive. Maybe ENS and Stevenson fighting for one wing spot with Lowe on the other.
Nick White will be happy with the Chiefs scrum. Thompson still has issues with his throwing.
All up, a decent hit-out for a preseason game. I was hoping that MP would get more possession to test the Chiefs' defence.
