The Waratahs’ top four hopes have received a boost, with Wallaby Ned Hanigan returning from Japan to bolster their finals charge.

It is understood Hanigan, as well as former Wallaby Paddy Ryan, arrived at Daceyville on Monday after finishing their seasons in Japan.

    Lol that's a downgrade

@Daffy-Jaffy I reckon this week's lineup is just full of bangers. Should be plenty of good contests, with meaningful matches.

Highlanders have a critical game to sneak into the 8,
Crusaders can't afford to drop their standards or it could be a nasty surprise
Blues looking to secure a top 4 spot with a couple of rounds to go, last home game in the regular season
Tahs Canes should be tasty - can the Tahs step back up to their Crusaders form?
Drua MP should be an epic battle that both sides are desparate to win
Chiefs game probably the worst of the lot in terms of quality and expectations.

Roll on, plenty of TV time ahead! Hopefully I'll get to see most, including a group live at Eden Park on saturday night

So is it as simple as often Kiwi teams are slow starters or are Aussie teams conditioning not upto it and unable to finish?

There have been numerous games now where aussie teams have lead, and reasonably well, only to be hauled back.

They go pretty ballistic in the first 10-20 minutes eh, which is probably always going to lead to a downswing in performance towards the end of the half...the adage is the team that scores before and after half time right?

Hopefully a few more players like Retallick, Ioane and Weber are back on deck this weekend or next, maybe even Stevenson. McMillan really needs to decide on his best back three from here on, and must realise that Gatland and Trask can't start together.

The Chiefs have played the 3 best Aust teams to date so as long as they win their remaining 3 games should secure 4th position and a home QF. That said, their away record is much better than their home record this season.

It looks increasingly likely that Kiwi teams are going to end up occupying positions 1-2 & 4-6, this assuming Reds/Brumbies lose to both the Crusaders & Blues in their remaining fixtures.

    Big assumption

@Machpants - how do you feel now?

Yeah a lot of water under the Bridge before that happens.
Crusaders have to beat the Brumbies in Canberra so do the Blues.
Canes have to beat the Warratahs in Sydney all tough games.

Our 2nd worst franchise beat the Ponies in Canberra 33-12 last season, take that how want.

Different beasts this season. The teams look a Lot different than last year as do the results.
Brumbies at home look a lot tougher proposition than last year.

    Where's my apology?

@KiwiMurph that screams Mounga off the bench for the AB's. Would be interesting to see the breakdown of Jordie's stats across his positions.

The playoff picture looks set in stone unless Tahs can upset Landers (which they won't).

    Blues vs Highlanders

    Crusaders vs Waratahs

    Hurricanes vs Chiefs

    Brumbies vs Reds

at least one Aussie team will survive to Week 2.

Highlanders with nothing to lose will be a seriously tough opponent - some reward for finishing top!
