I think RTS looks to be a hugely talented player, with smarts, I think (and hope obviously) his transition is going to be much smoother than most expect, such a rare talent, I think he will surprise a fair few, particularly on attack
I think he might get shown up on d a few times, but expect he will learn quickly there too.
@nzzp Nonu developed a good kicking game.
Going by that article posted about Clarke and RTS training together there was mention on working his passing game.
Passing in play is different between the codes and used more often in Union.Yep I have seen to many league player that don't pass left to right very well under pressure. I think in league there tends to be more spce to set yourself?
I don’t watch league but I imagine that generally speaking there is less passing (apart from the initial tackle clearance). Also less passing across the face and long passes
this is the most Fern post ever
I don't watch something but (insert incorrect statement about things you don't watch)
There's as much passing in a league game as a modern rugby game, especially at test level. And most league attack involves, yep, you guessed it, wide passes across the face. Generally thrown by halves, 5/8s, and fullbacks. Guess where Roger played?
That's fine then.
I wonder why he said he was learning his passing game again and Caleb Clarke was helping him.(I did also say 'I imagine that')

holy shit i just read that rugby pass article
Isn't Hamish Bedwell supposed to be a decent journo? The shit he is talking in there is fucking outrageous
Betting on RTS not to be a success is hardly a stretch, he's got a fairly decent mountain to climb. Most of the rest he's written there is ridiculous, and i wonder if he's watched a Warriors game over the past few years?
Also, Jordie fucking Barrett is a more physical player than RTS? The actual fuck?

No, he is a weirdo with a massive chip on his shoulder, who hates NZ rugby, the Blues, the Chiefs, and hopes NZ teams lose.
-
@african-monkey I remember when he posted about how happy he was that the B&I Lions had beaten the Chiefs.

Sadly I pretty much agree on that. Don't know how he gets his articles published after some shockers last year. Must appeal to the click bait audience.

He certainly is, I'm pretty sure he got his job through the reputation of his old man aswell who I believe used to be a great journo in Wellington for a long time.
Hamish has always been a poor journo, especially when he was writing on the Canes for the Dom Post. Always so bloody negative and just so poor with his information, half The Silver Fern could do a better job to be honest.

I don't recognize this Blues side. Good selections and choice of captaincy, energetic backs, healthy forwards, promising younger talent from league, and plenty of depth. And no excuses offered early by Blues posters here!
What a strange year 2022 is shaping up to be. -

With Tolai and Niuia at Moana Pacifica, and Apisai with the Chiefs, who is the backup hooker in the WTG this year?
There's some new headshots up. Some regular squad and some in the wider group
I can only spot flankers & props in the extended group
